LA man, 68, is crushed to death after getting stuck between freight elevator doors while working on the building

  • Francisco Orduno Mota, 68, was discovered deceased outside the doors of a freight elevator at a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles 
  • The Los Angeles Fire Department said Mota appeared to have become stuck between the closing doors of the elevator and then crushed to death
  • It remains unclear exactly when the accident occurred, Mota’s body was discovered shortly before noon on Wednesday 

A man was crushed to death when he became stuck between the doors of a freight elevator in downtown Los Angeles.

Authorities identified the man as Francisco Orduno Mota, 68, of Los Angeles.

Mota was found dead by the second-floor elevator doors at the back of the six-story building just before noon on Wednesday. 

It remains unclear exactly when the accident occurred.    

The Los Angeles Fire Department said Mota was ‘discovered deceased, trapped,’ and that paramedics were called in to extricate him.

He was an employee at the building, located on the 800 block of South Broadway.
