This marks the first time any artist has been nominated in the Best Original Song category three times. Gaga, 36, won the Oscar in the same category for her 2019 hit Shallow from A Star Is Born.

‘Thank you so much to the Academy for nominating my song ‘Hold My Hand’ for an Oscar this year,’ wrote Gaga.

‘Writing this song for the film Top Gun: Maverick was a deep and powerful experience that I will never forget. So grateful for the magic of music and cinema. Love you my co-writer.’

She added, ‘I’m on set filming now big love to little monsters!’

Tom Cruise‘s Top Gun: Maverick was the highest-grossing film of 2022 and surpassed global sales of $1.4 billion, making it Paramount Pictures’ most successful film ever and landing it in the top 10 movies of all time.

The amazing cast includes: Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, is the 12th film in history to ever cross the $600 million mark at the domestic box office.

The sequel follows Capt. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell (Tom Cruise) after more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators.

Maverick is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

Cruise and the Top Gun cast underwent months of flight training in preparation for their roles, as they took to the sky themselves for the scenes.

Serious training: Cruise was the pilot of many planes used throughout the film and even directed and filmed his own scenes while flying the plane and adjusting his own camera in front of himself with no room in the cockpit for a director's assistance

Earlier this week, Gaga extended kind words toward Taylor Swift after coming across a resurfaced clip from her 2020 documentary Miss Americana on TikTok.

The Poker Face hitmaker — real name Stefani Germanotta — called her fellow songstress, 33, ‘really brave’ for speaking vulnerably about a past eating disorder.

Taylor’s song Carolina from Where the Crawdads Sing was on the shortlist of 15 films in contention to be nominated for Best Original Song but did not make the final list.

And Rita Wilson was also left out for her song for her husband Tom Hanks’ movie A Man Called Otto.
