An Australian landlord has taken disgusted viewers on a horror tour of an evicted tenant’s bedroom to try and track down the source of a stomach-churning stench.

Stephanie, who renovates her own properties, smiled through gritted teeth as she filmed a TikTok video of herself opening the door to the room of the St Kilda house to investigate.

‘Alright so I’ve had some issues with this tenant so I’ve had to kick them out,’ she began.

The room was littered with fast food delivery bags and unwashed lunch containers. Eventually she found. Eventually she rotting food with maggots crawling through it and mouldy sour cream tub

‘I’ve had complaints from the other tenants but also there’s been a really bad smell coming from this room for a while now.

‘Alright, let’s take a look.’

Immediately she encountered filth – dirty carpets with scraps on the floor, unclean tables and surfaces and bursting rubbish bags.

‘Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh it smells so bad,’ she said, gasping as regular intervals.’

‘Gross, disgusting, how do people live like this.’

Then she found whole shelves of  endless fast food carry bags and snack boxes.

‘Oh my gosh. It gets worse.’

She found drawer after drawer of dirty dishes in the evicted tenant's room

‘Imagine spending that much on Uber eats?’ she said

In the drawer of a table was a dirty lunch container.

The tenant had so many dirty dishes he had filled his drawers and bedside table with them.

She carefully opened the drawers using her foot.

‘Oh there’s all the plates that we’ve been missing!’

The closer she looked, the worse it got. Eventually she discovered rotting food with maggots crawling through it.

But even that may not have caused the vile smells which plaguing housemates to complain.

Probably the strongest odour came from old sour cream tubs that had gone mouldy and ‘smelled horrific’.

‘The mattress and all of the bedding had to be thrown away,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘The smell got into everything.’

‘It took me about 3 days to clean it and I think the rubbish filled five large wheelie bins.’

Stephanie’s followers on TikTok were appalled by the state the room was left in.

‘Omg! The grossness and disrespect,’ one said.

‘I’m so sorry you had to deal with this and go thru this. Absolutely disgusting,’ another agreed.

‘Omg! Who puts dirty plates inside drawers?’ one remarked.
