Lea Michele put on a racy display in a black leather minidress while signing Funny Girl CDs for fans in NYC

Lea Michele made the streets of New York City her runway while rocking a skintight black leather minidress and semi-sheer tights under a long white coat on Friday.

While heading to an album signing with her Funny Girl castmates Tovah Feldshuh, Ramin Karimloo and Jared Grimes, the actress, 36, oozed confidence  as she strutted down the sidewalk in a pair of stilettos, oversized shades and velvet black purse.

For the occasion, she wore her dark brown hair in a tousled bun with a few wispy front pieces, nude lipstick and bronzer for a sun-kissed glow.

According to Just Jared, Funny Girl’s gross for the eight-performance week ending on December 18 was $2,005,696.80.

Michele took over the role of Fanny Brice from Beanie Feldstein, who received less than fantastic reviews.

The show revived the original musical, which starred Barbra Streisand as the titular character. It opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre on March 26, 1964, and closed on July 1, 1967.

Funny Girl’s revival opened on April 24, 2022 and starred Feldstein as Fanny, Jane Lynch as Mrs. Bryce, and Ramin Karimloo as Nick Arnstein.

Michele then took over for Feldstein in September, despite her contract not ending until early 2023.

Feldstein left the show in July and stated that the show was going in a different direction. Julie Benko, the understudy for Fanny Brice, took over the performances until Michele stepped in.

Since the start of her career, the Glee star made it known that playing Fanny on Broadway was her dream.

It was such a well-known fact that her character on Glee, Rachel Berry, sang several songs from the show and even had a plot line where her character got to star as Fanny Brice on Broadway.

Jane Lynch, a fellow Glee alum, left the show just before Michele was due to start as Fanny.

When asked by Playbill if Michele was the reason for her early departure from the show, Lynch said: ‘It has nothing to do with not wanting to see Lea. I text with Lea. She and I are fine. I’m thrilled for her.’

Despite the sudden changes in casting, the show has gone nowhere but up since then.

According to Seat Geek, tickets for the show were selling for only $69, with weekday shows for $49 in July and August.

After Michele joined the show, tickets started going for $570 to $2,500, not including the service fees.

Earlier this week, the haunting new docu-series called The Price Of Glee rehashed her tense relationship with her late costar Naya Rivera.

During the three-part limited series, Naya’s father claimed that his eldest child, who tragically died in 2020 while on a boating trip with her son Josey at Lake Piru at the age of 33, and Michele regularly had ‘trouble with’ each other.

‘There was always a fight between them. Always. Everybody knew. Everybody saw it,’ George alleged. ‘They hated each other but, at the same time, respected each other’s talent.’

George also insisted his daughter, who portrayed Santana Lopez on Fox’s musical comedy-drama, never had any issues with any of her other cast members.

Before her passing, Rivera cleared the air about her long-rumored feud with Michele in her 2016 memoir, Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up.

‘One of the Glee writers once said that Lea and I were like two sides of the same battery and that about sums us up,’ Rivera wrote. ‘We are both strong willed and competitive — not just with each other but with everyone — and that’s not a good mixture.’

Naya continued: ‘As the show progressed, though, that friendship started to break down, especially as Santana moved from a background character to one with bigger plot lines and more screen time.’

The Devious Maids actress went on to say that ‘Lea didn’t like sharing the spotlight’ and that ‘Lea was a lot more sensitive’ ‘when people offer feedback or criticism.’

If I’d complained about anyone or anything, she’d assumed I was b**ching about her,’ the mother-of-one recalled.

By season six, Naya claims Michele ‘didn’t say a word’ to her on set.

‘Lea and I definitely weren’t the best of friends, and I doubt we’ll ever sit on her couch and eat kale together again, but the rumors of our ‘feud’ were blown out of proportion,’ the late performer concluded.

Naya became the third major Glee star to die in their 30s. In what was the start of the show’s behind-the-scenes demise, on 13 July 2013, Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, was found dead of a drugs overdose aged 31 in his Vancouver hotel room, after taking a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol. Four months before his death he had completed a stint in rehab.
