Libertine showcased their spring 2024 womenswear and menswear collections at The Gallery at Spring Studios.
The long awaited event marks the label’s return to New York Fashion Week since the start of the pandemic.
Co-founder and creative director Johnson Hartig’s latest creations were perfectly accessorized with oversized hats, sunglasses, and handbags from his collaboration with LeSportsac.
‘LeSportsac approached us about doing something with them and we thought it was a great idea,’ Johnson told Daily Mail.
‘I designed a whole collection for them and halfway through the season I was like those are debuting at the same times as the spring collection, what about if we try to coordinate.’
After 21 years in the business Johnson believe he’s come into his own with a more finely tuned design process.
‘We’re providing our customers who are so loyal and avid, beautiful things that they are really responding to.
‘It’s a gorgeous collection, every piece is so gorgeous, I was out of my mind seeing it all come together,’ he expressed.
For spring 24, Hartig drew inspiration from great American sportswear from the 30s to the 70s.
Models stormed the catwalk in an array of pieces featuring statement making prints in the dominating color palette of red, white and blue.
Colorful florals and bedazzled garments were also present.
Since Libertine’s launch in 2001, Johnson has been a trailblazer in crystal embellishment, screen printing, embroidery follies, and graphic illuminations – and this collection is no different.
‘Go to ilovelibertine.com and buy a lot of it because we’re a small business that are providing incredible things and providing a lot of inspiration to other designers,’ said Johnson.
‘So go support the OG originals.’
It wouldn’t be a Libertine show without a VIP crowd.
Food God Jonathan Cheban was in attendance. The tv personality and Fashion Week regular sat front row in an embellished Libertine blazer paired with black pants.
Writer Candace Bushnell, Fashion icon Fern Mallis and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks were also in attendance.
As well as designer Thom Browne, Singer Babyface, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Sutton Stracke, and more.
