‘The other girls were ready and waiting!’: Little Mix used a ‘secret body double of Jesy Nelson for their single cover after she failed to show up’

She left pop megaband Little Mix to go solo back in 2020.

But strain between Jesy Nelson and the other members of the group appear to date back further, when a body double was drafted in to replace her.

According to The Sun the then 28-year-old failed to turn up to shoot the single cover for their track Bounce Back, forcing a doppelgänger to be hired.

A source told the publication: ‘Little Mix video shoots were always stressful for the girls due to the pressure of having to look perfect on camera but Bounce Back was a new level’.

Record label bosses held crisis talks and eventually decided to make Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock pose with their back to the camera, alongside a body double.

In the snap for the single the girls all appear in skimpy bikinis as they relax on sun-beds and inflatables.

The source continued: ‘Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie were all ready on set waiting for Jesy and the next thing they were told was that she wasn’t coming’.

It was then decided that Jesy would have to film her own part in actual video at a later date, while faking the photo.

She said: ‘I know people look up to popstars like us and feel under pressure to look as good as we do in our music videos but that’s after hours and hours of hair and make-up and lighting.

‘Personally, I still feel a lot of pressure to look good all the time. I have never ever liked doing music videos. If you don’t feel good it is really hard to pretend to feel amazing.’

The singer, announced she was leaving the band in December 2020 when she shared a lengthy statement on Instagram stating she was stepping back to protect her mental health.

However, a source has now revealed that the move came as a complete shock to the other three members  who heard about the decision through lawyers.

One of Jesy’s demos – a song titled La, La – leaked online earlier this month, with the track featuring an explicit male rap.

A source told The Sun the recording was made early in 2021 along with dozens of other studio tracks.

They added that the song is not planned for release as a single or an album track.

Jesy split from her record label Polydor in July this year after 14 months.

Insiders said the pop star decided to walk away from her deal to make a fresh start after music due for the label was apparently delayed.
