Logie Awards 2022: Abbie Chatfield ‘in tears’ before red carpet debut

Abbie Chatfield burst into tears in her hotel room before the Logie Awards after seeing her dress: ‘I just panicked’

Abbie Chatfield has revealed she almost missed her first Logies after trying on her dress for the first time in her hotel room and having a crisis of confidence.

She felt overwhelmed ahead of TV’s night of nights because the frock was ‘so nice’ and she wasn’t used to dressing so extravagantly.

‘I was crying… I was like, “I just feel like I shouldn’t be in this dress,” because the dress was so nice,’ the 27-year-old said on her podcast It’s A Lot.

‘I just panicked, and also everyone just always calls me “attention-seeking” and now I’m rocking up to the red carpet with a feather cape that’s four metres long,’ she said of her show-stopping Con Ilio dress.

However, she was reassured by the designer, who eased her nerves and gave her the confidence to walk the red carpet.

Abbie revealed the highlight of her night was meeting Mel B, with whom she will soon appear as a judge on The Masked Singer Australia.

‘Love her, she’s a queen, I can’t wait to work with her,’ she said.

It comes after Abbie, who rose to fame in 2019 as a runner-up on The Bachelor, recently said she was struggling to get medication for her ADHD diagnosis.

‘I haven’t got medicated yet. Do you know how hard it is? I’ve been trying,’ she said.

‘I had to get all my tests done before the Logies and [I have to then go back to the doctor] to get paperwork emailed,’ she said.

‘Now I’m waiting for the psychiatrist to call me and get me my script.’

Abbie will join the guessing panel on the upcoming season of The Masked Singer, alongside Mel B, Dave Hughes and Chrissie Swan.
