Love Island 2022 scored its biggest launch show ratings since the 2019 series with a a whopping five million viewers tuning in to the saucy series’ first episode last week.
The opening saw a rise of 0.2 million viewers based on 2021’s launch, with the following series going on to be streamed a staggering 32 million times.
For 16-34 year old viewers the show averaged 1.8m TV viewers with a 61.6% share of viewing, making it the second most watched programme so far this year for this demographic – only being marginally beaten by the Eurovision song contest.

On ITV Hub it was watched by 2.9m viewers, making it the biggest launch episode on ITV Hub and up on 2021’s launch by +0.2m.
The launch episode has been streamed 6.9 million times and the series as a whole has been streamed 32 million times.
Monday’s explosive episode saw Afia Tonkmor become the first contestant dumped from the villa – after Jacques O’Neill coupled up with Paige Thorne.
The 2019 series was eventually won by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.

This news comes after Mailonline exclusively revealed that the show’s newest hunk Remi Lambert is an amateur rapper whose tracks contain derogatory comments about women and are littered with drug and violence references.
The Manchester-born contestant, 22, makes his debut in the villa on Tuesday night and introduces himself to other contestants as a model.
But there is another side to Remi’s personality courtesy of the unsavoury lyrics in his rap videos.
Remi, whose rap name is Remi Lambo, references damaging female genitalia during sex in a track called Superhero, rapping: ‘Don’t care if you’re peng, you’ll still get left on pending and saved for later.

In another sexually explicit song called Mr Grey, posted in 2020 amassing over 62,000 YouTube views, he compares himself to the Fifty Shades of Grey character Christian Grey, famed for practicing sadism.

A pal close to Remi defended him, saying: ‘I don’t necessarily agree with how women are described in rap music in general.
‘Remi does not condone violence against women. There’s no malicious intent here at all. He would be upset at the suggestion, and we hope people see the real him on Love Island.’
In a video with just under 8,000 views for his song Bipolar, Remi made numerous references to drugs.
He rapped about using Dior perfume to hide the smell of marijuana and drinking ‘purple’ – a recreational drug drink made with prescription-strength medicines.
He added: ‘I switch girls like I switch personas, bro I think that I’m bipolar.
‘Chatting to the bando owner whilst feeding the cat like Doja.’
