Jack Fowler and Justine Ndiba have won the first-ever series of Love Island Games.
The pair coupled up on the first day of the new spin-off show, and were the only duo to remain together for the whole 17 days of the series.
They scooped a $100,000 prize as the winning pair on the show, which saw former Love Island contestants from around for the world compete for ‘another shot at love’.
It marked an improvement on Jack’s first stint on the show, where he and ex Laura Crane were dumped just before the UK season four finale.
While it matched Justine’s previous efforts, having won season two of Love Island USA with Caleb Corprew.
After weeks of battles, Cely Vazquez and Eyal Booker were the last couple dumped from the island.
The three remaining couples: Justine and Jack, Aurelia Lamprecht and Johnny Middlebrooks, and Deb Chubb and Callum Hole then took on the final challenge, a mega duel which saw the pairs take each other on in an inflatable jousting ring.
Host Maya Jama then crowned Justine and Jack the winning couple before their fellow Islanders voted for Justine to win the $100,000 grand prize, giving her the option to either keep the money or share it with Jack.
Insisting they both deserved the money, Justine opted to split the cash.
She told Maya: ‘I wouldn’t have been able to get here without Jack. My family could really use this.
‘I just feel like the connection I felt with Jack this time was a lot more real than the last time.
‘[Jack] had a rough time in here, and I feel like we both really deserve it, so I’m going to split it.’
Jack then told Justine: ‘Money is not everything. Just to be here with you doing this is more than that.’
While they may have been the only couple to stay together for the duration of the show, their win proved to be controversial for their fellow Islanders after they ruffled feathers earlier in the process.
Ahead of the semi-final, the pair won the power to save one of the bottom three couples from elimination.
They chose to spare Mitch Hibberd and Zeta Morrison, sending Imani Wheeler and Ray Gantt as well as Scott Van-der Sluis and Courtney Boerner home.
Yet their motives were questioned when Ray called out the pair out for betraying him for the sake of the competition.
Nonetheless, they were still able to win the show, with Jack later writing on his Instagram Story: ‘We did that!!!!! Champions!!! Thank you so much for allllll that love and support (sic)’.
Love Island USA star Johnny and Love Island Germany’s Aurelia finished as runners up.
And despite only being in the villa for five days, Love Island Australia’s Callum and Love Island USA’s Deb finished third.
Toby Aromolaran, who recently split up with his girlfriend Chloe Burrows after meeting on Love Island’s seventh series, previously described the spin-off show as like ‘Love Island on steroids’ as he promised ‘blood, sweat and tears’ during the intense challenges.
‘It’s not normal Love Island. It’s Love Island on steroids,’ he told Digital Spy. ‘The games side of it, there’s passion, blood, sweat and tears and everything.’
A UK release date for Love Island Games has yet to be announced.
