‘Mental health is serious’: Love Island’s Remi Lambert reveals his mum previously took her own life as he doubles down on claims Jacques O’Neill and Luca Bish ‘bullied’ him

Love Island‘s Remi Lambert has revealed his mum previously took her own life while struggling with mental health issues, as he explained why he’s taking recent cases of ‘bullying’ so seriously in a now-deleted Instagram Story.

Doubling down on claims Jacques O’Neill and Luca Bish ‘bullied’ him, it comes just hours after he accused his fellow contestants of targeting him in a Tuesday post on the social media platform.

The 22-year-old’s strong words for Luca and Jacques, both 23, came after the pair took part in an Instagram Live where they mocked Remi’s rapping skills.

He shared a fan’s sympathetic tweet, along with the message: ‘Didn’t want to bring this up but mental health is serious.’

The supporter had written: ‘Just found out Remi from love island lost his mom to suicide as she was struggling with mental health.

‘This is so sad as he was being bullied in and out the villa. We need to do better, and hold the bullies accountable. #Loveisland.’

Worried fans soon wrote on Twitter that that they were ‘worried’ for the model as he ended his post with a ‘suicidal tone’.

They penned: ‘Remi’s mother committed suicide due to her mental health do you want to see the same happen to Remi?’

‘The last paragraph in Remi statement make me genuinely worried for the guy especially after knowing that his mother committed suicide and dealt with mental health issues, someone please check up on him. #LoveIsland.’

‘Remi from #loveisland has suffered directly from the impact of suicide (sadly losing his mum), now he’s being bullied/mocked by 2 islanders who have a) 2 of the most followings & b) have consistently used “mental health” to not face consequences. Vile humans Luca + Jacques.’

‘Why is not one mentioning the fact that Remi statement ended with a suicidal tone?! He was bullied so bad he thought of suicide? #TALKSWITHASH.’

Remi previously shared a photo with his late mother and brother Jordan alongside the caption, ’03/08/2018❤️❤️❤️.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Love Island, Jacques and Luca for comment.

The Manchester-native entered the villa as a bombshell on day nine and was dumped just three days later when he failed to survive the recoupling.

In a recent video, Jacques was reading comments coming in from fans and thought he saw one from Remi, but it was actually from a fake account.

Jacques said: ‘Remi’s just commented, “what are you boys saying about me and my rapping?” I said it’s really really good, you should turn pro.’

Luca asked: ‘Is Remi commenting? I can’t see the comments.’

Jacques said he was and then repeating the rapping comment in a seemingly sarcastic tone.

Luca then said: ‘Pro? A pro rapper? He ain’t got… What’s he gonna do? Work in Harrods next year?’ which made Jacques laugh.

Remi shared the video on his Instagram and wrote a lengthy post accusing both Luca and Jacques of bullying him while he was in the villa and said they should have been kicked out for their behaviour.

He said: ‘@LoveIsland I never joined their live so I didn’t comment actually. A fake account called remilamb0 did. Don’t know why these guys have such a problem with me, clearly got some serious issues they need to sort out.

‘Everyone said I lied about the way I was treated in that villa, but this here is an example of what was going on whilst I was in there. Don’t know why they wasn’t kicked out for their behaviour to be honest. It’s not banter, it’s clear signs of bullying.

‘I wish everyone could see all of the crap I went through. There’s 24 hours in a day and yous only seen like about 3-5 10 second clips of me out of the whole day, so you could never tell what was truly happening.

‘Jacques said bad things about my appearance and the way I speak, whilst Luca was encouraging it. After about 3 strikes from Jacques I told him I won’t be speaking to him anymore in the villa.

‘Later on he tried apologising to me but like 10 minutes after he started with the snide comments again. I’ve tried to avoid this guy multiple times but he always ends up starting again. I don’t know when it will stop.

‘Worst person to represent mental health and ADHD campaigns. He’s still out here mocking not just me but other islanders too.

‘You’d think with such a big platform they would use it to promote peace, but they’re using it to troll and they’re loving the attention. Immature.

‘These guys are not role models or good people. They have not once thought about my mental health. If I wasn’t so strong minded I could’ve done something stupid to myself by now, but they don’t care at all. I want justice.’

Remi received support from fellow Love Islander Tasha Ghouri who liked his post and now appears to have unfollowed Jacques on Instagram.

Remi’s statement comes after he claimed his time on the show was ‘ruined’ after an unaired row with Jacques.

The model reflected on his brief stint in the villa on the YouTube series Reality with Will Njobvu, and admitted he and Jacques clashed multiple times, but the scenes were never broadcast.

As reported by The Mirror, Remi said: ‘There was of lot stuff that wasn’t aired – a lot of stuff going on.

‘So basically, me and Jacques got into quite a lot of arguments and it just made my experience s**t. It ruined it for me.

‘People were saying, ”It’s because he’s got a rugby persona’ – but you can’t treat people like that.”

When pressed by fellow dumped Islander Afia Tonkmore about the reason behind the clashes, Remi added: ‘He was just trying to get on to me.’

He also claimed that Jacques would repeatedly mimic voice, saying phrases like: ‘My name’s Remi. I’m hard and I’m from Manny.’

‘It was so jarring but I was the only one to stick up for myself because he would always do that to people and I would just like stick it on him and say ”Shut up!” Remi added.

‘But yeah, we just got into a lot of fights and stuff.’
