Made In Chelsea’s Maeva D’Ascanio fires back at ‘idiot’ mum-shamer in Covid row

‘What the hell do you know?’: MIC’s Maeva D’Ascanio fires back at ‘idiot’ troll who branded her ‘disgusting’ for isolating from newborn son when she caught Covid

Maeva D’Ascanio has hit back at an ‘idiot’ troll after she was criticised for isolating away from her newborn son when she caught Covid.

The Made In Chelsea star revealed last week she had tested positive for the virus and sent her five-week-old son to stay with her mother-in-law until she recovered.

After admitting she ‘couldn’t wait’ to be reunited with her newborn, the 30-year-old reality star was inundated with comments from her followers – some of whom condemned her decision to be apart from her son.

One troll commented: ‘Your baby should never have been away from you so newborn and disgusting hes not back! Your clearly well. [sic]’

Maeva then fired back: ‘What the hell you know about my life if I’m well or not you idiot! You’re right it would have been better to keep my baby close to me sick with covid and coughing in his face !!!

‘If you don’t know how to take care of your child well i do! [sic]’

NHS guidelines advise parents with coronavirus to avoid coughing or sneezing on your baby, following strict sterilisation guidelines and allowing them their own separate sleep space.

However the guidelines also state that it is fine to maintain skin-to-skin time and to continue breastfeeding because the benefits and the protection it offers to babies outweigh any potential risks of transmission.

Last week, Maeva informed her followers: ‘So, for the update, I have Covid. I am at home on my own.

‘My little baby Beau is not here. I had to leave him to my mother-in-law because it’s way more safe there for him because I know…

‘It’s really hard to say. Some people say that babies can catch Covid, some say babies cannot catch Covid but, just in case, I prefer him to be there and be safe.’

She continued: ‘I’m wearing a Christmas jumper though so…anyway…that was a s**t Christmas but it’s fine. The next one will be better hopefully.’

It comes after Maeva revealed she had to rush her newborn to A&E with a breathing scare last month.

The reality star cradled her baby in her arms in one sweet picture as she admitted it is ‘hard to be a parent,’ before assuring her followers that he’s now fine.

Maeva said Beau was creating mucus after being born via a C-section, so his breathing sounded funny.

‘Hard to be a parent. Today I had a such big stress (sic),’ her post began.

‘We went to A&E, because of Beau’s breathing, turns out he is all good, C section babies can swallow fluids and create mucus and when they breathe they can make some weird noises.’

She added: ‘It takes some time to get rid of it and also Beau snores like his mother apparently so. Thank you so much for your messages, it’s so reassuring to see that many parents are experiencing this.’
