MAFS: Carolina Santos claims most couples ‘fake their relationship’ for more TV time

Married At First Sight bride Carolina Santos claims most couples ‘FAKE their relationship for more TV time’

Married At First Sight fans were disappointed when fan-favourites Domenica Calarco and Jack Millar called it quits before filming the cast reunion in January.

But according to MAFS bride Carolina Santos, their blissful relationship may have ended much earlier.

The online business owner, 35, claimed during an Instagram Q&A on Wednesday that she suspects Domenica and Jack were one of ‘many couples’ from the show who split earlier in the season but ‘faked it’ to extend their 15 minutes of fame.

She was asked by a fan: ‘Did Jack/Dom split at the [couples’] retreat but fake it for fame ’til the end?’

‘Look, it’s hard to say because you don’t really know what happens behind closed doors, but I think did [fake it to stay on the show],’ Carolina replied.

‘Most of the couples knew that their relationship was never going to go anywhere [in the outside world] and they stayed until the end for TV time.’

While Domenica and Jack’s relationship fell apart off-screen, a source close to production has told Daily Mail Australia the pair were ‘over and ready to quit’ by the time of the couples’ retreat – which was weeks before they filmed their final vows.

‘It was all over for them and they were both ready to quit,’ the insider said. ‘It was all getting too much for Jack to deal with.’

‘But Dom  knew lasting to the end would be to the key to making her a breakout star, so she was willing to do whatever it took,’ they added.

It comes after fellow MAFS bride Tamara Djordjevic encouraged future brides to ‘fake it’ if they’re considering signing up for the hit Channel Nine series.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle last month, Tamara said that a certain level of duplicity was needed in order to be liked by the general public.

‘Don’t be your full self – hold back,’ she said. ‘And even if you don’t love the person you’re matched with, pretend you do.’

‘Pretend you love them because everyone loves the person who loves love and is obsessed with their partner, you can see that. You’ve just got to fake it.’
