Married At First Sight viewers were left baffled during Tuesday’s reunion when Peggy Lawrence and her husband Georges Berthonneau revealed they still hadn’t had sex.
Fan’s of the show joked that they were ‘more likely to see an ice age’ before the couple consummated their marriage after the surprising revelation.
The technology risk partner, 32, and the gamer’s, 30, tumultuous relationship has played out in excruciating style with Peggy’s parents disapproving of Georges from the beginning.
Reuniting with the rest of the cast, the duo admitted that they were still waiting to ‘go all the way,’ three months after their wedding.
Fans of the show shared their disbelief to Twitter / X as they took the opportunity to joke about the couple’s lack of intimacy.
Poking fun, one person wrote: ‘The year is 2955. Mankind has evolved to communicate via telepathy and the polar ice caps have just reformed as we enter a mini ice age. Peggy and Georges have still not had sex.’
‘Peggy wanted kids with Georges, someone’s going to have to tell her how that happens,’ another added.
‘Can’t believe Peggy hasn’t done anything with Georges yet! She doesn’t like him poor baba’s self esteem is on the floor,’ a third shared.
Someone else questioned: ‘Peggy still not wanting to have sex with Georges is very interesting. Is she disgusted by him in that way or what?’
Another wrote: ‘Rumour has it, to this day, Peggy and Georges still haven’t had sex.’
The E4 dating series came to an explosive close on Tuesday as four couples – Ella and JJ, Peggy and Georges, Adrienne and Matt, and Paul and Tasha – decided whether to stay together or break-up.
During the show, Peggy and Georges appeared to overcome their differences as they decided to stay together.
After a cliffhanger in Monday’s episode, Peggy told how she was trusting Georges to ‘prove everyone that doubted you wrong’ after her family shared their uncertainty over their relationship.
She said: ‘This is by far the biggest decision of my life. My family want the best for me, and family and respect to me are everything.
‘They want me to be happy and put myself first. As much as I wanted to trust you, trust for me is something that is earned.
‘I may not trust easily, but I trust myself. And I also trust that you’ll prove everyone that doubted you wrong. So my decision is to stay and continue our story together.’
Peggy was previously branded ‘disrespectful’ and ‘disgusting’ for her treatment of her husband Georges.
Despite reiterating he had put his personal training business on hold to appear on the show, both Peggy and her beloved parents – with whom she still lives as a tricenarian – have hit out at his job status, leading to heavy criticism.
A slew of followers commented on a host of her Instagram snaps to criticise the family for their treatment of Georges, yet Peggy was quick to hit back.
In one of her responses, Peggy wrote: ‘I have never asked for a millionaire I have always worked since I left school and I did want my husband to at least have a job.’
Earlier, Georges stayed at Peggy’s Kent house but was not allowed to stay in her bedroom per her father Jim’s strict rules about their house.
Fans were left shocked at the rule, given their marital status, while the floodgates soon opened over the ongoing discussion of his work.
On Instagram, Georges’ jobs are listed as online coach, content creator, gamer and model – all of which Peggy and her family have taken issue with – something which led to an outpouring of anger in the comments.
A follower commented on a picture of her and Georges writing: ‘Please don’t make your decision on Georges based on your Mum and Dads opinion…
‘Your not guaranteed to get the ‘respect’ you say you want from the millionaire they want to pair you with. So sad to see how they spoke to Georges tonight.’
Peggy then responded: ‘I have never asked for a millionaire I have always worked since I left school and I did want my husband to at least have a job.’
