Australia’s Got Talent is returning to Channel Seven after it was postponed in June last year due to Sydney‘s Covid outbreak.

This year’s series will see Aussies take on some of the world’s best Got Talent acts as they chase the AGT Champion title.

Ricki-Lee expressed her disappointment in June last year when the show was postponed due to Sydney’s Covid outbreak for the second year in a row.

Taking to Instagram at the time, the former Australian Idol star shared throwback photos from previous seasons of AGT, alongside a heartfelt caption.

‘I’m so sad that for the second year in a row, a week from filming, AGT has been postponed because of Covid,’ she began.

‘I was really excited for this year’s show – with an amazing new panel of judges and from what I had seen and heard in my pre-show prep, an epic line-up of talent. I truly mean that. It would have been an awesome season.’

The 2021 season would have featured two international judges, American actor Neil Patrick Harris and Alesha Dixon.

Ricki-Lee, who was also supposed to host AGT in 2020 before Seven cancelled the season, admitted her professional life had suffered because of the pandemic.

‘After spending the better part of the last 18 months at home in my robe, I was excited to get all glammed up, to be back in front of an excited crowd,’ she said.

Ricki-Lee then paid tribute to the cast and crew of AGT, who were left disappointed and out of pocket after the talent show was cancelled for a second year in a row.

‘The crew on this show are the best in the biz and they’ve been working on this now for two years with no big shiny show to give to you all at the end of all their hard work! We were so close (again)… but so far,’ she said.

‘All I can say is… when we are finally back… we’ve got a hell of a lot of talent for you!’
