MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Edina city officials say M Health Fairview Southdale was on lockdown Monday night as police searched for someone who shot a man in a hospital parking lot.

Police were called to the hospital, located on the 6400 block of France Avenue South, at about 8:54 p.m.

Officials say the victim was treated at the hospital, and was able to give police a description of the shooter. He is an Asian man in his 30s who has shaved hair, a tattoo on the right side of his neck, and was wearing sweatpants. Anyone with information is urged to call 952-826-1600.

The shooting started as an attempted robbery, police say. The victim is described as 45-year-old man. His current condition is unknown.

The victim says the shooting started as an attempted robbery in the parking ramp off 65th Street and France Avenue. It’s unclear whether the shooter fled on foot or in a car.

The lockdown at the hospital was lifted just before midnight.
