Married At First Sight star Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant’s meet and greet ‘turns awkward’

Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant were mobbed in Sydney on Friday morning.

The Married At First Sight couple spent an hour meeting and greeting members of the public at a Huaewi launch in the Queen Victoria Building’s Happytel store.

But all wasn’t as it seems at the event, with not everybody attending to see them.

Although many fans of show flocked to the store for a selfie with the stars, half of the people in attendance stopped by just for the complimentary products advertised.

With the store promoting ‘free Bluetooth headphones’ to the first 50 people to arrive on their social media, a lot were unsure who the celebrity guests even were.

‘Some people thought they just worked there,’ an onlooker told Daily Mail Australia.

However, once people were then allowed into the shop one-by-one, they were greeted by Jules and Cam, who personally handed over the freebies.

‘They met everybody with a smile and took selfies with anyone that asked, but it did get awkward at times when people grabbed the headphones and walked away.

‘Not everybody wanted to chat to them or had anything to say. One woman was asking staff what season of The Block they were from after getting her freebie.’

Announcing the event on Instagram on Thursday night, Jules told fans: ‘Hi there, tomorrow from 11:30 to 12:30, Cam and I are going to be at the Happytel store.

‘This is to celebrate the collaboration between Huaewi and Happytel teaming up. If you want to spend your lunch break with us tomorrow, come visit and say hello.

‘The first 50 people in store get free Bluetooth headphones, what an exciting gift to get on your lunch break.’
