Big Ten home teams are 32-5 straight up in conference play entering Tuesday’s action, and the Wisconsin Badgers will look to fit that mold as they play host to Maryland at 9 p.m. EST.
Wisconsin has been a different team since Ohio State transfer Micah Potter became eligible. The team was 5-5 prior to him joining the lineup and is 5-1 since, covering every one of those straight-up wins in the process.
Potter had been eased into the lineup prior to the team’s victory over Penn State, then was unleashed in that game for 24 points, 13 rebounds. He made four of his six 3-point attempts.
The Terrapins bring back a lot of last year’s roster, but this team has been vastly different at home compared to road. Maryland is 2-8 both straight up and against the spread in their last 10 true road games and has failed to score 70 points in any of them.
Considering the Badgers average the eighth-fewest possessions per game and Maryland is 258th nationally in team field-goal shooting percentage, Wisconsin should control the pace and continue the dominance of Big Ten home teams.
Prediction: Wisconsin wins and covers the spread, -2.
