Maya Jama and Stormzy ‘planning to head to couples’ therapy in a bid to work through their past tensions’
Maya Jama and Stormzy are reportedly heading to couples’ therapy in a bid to rid themselves of their past tensions.
The couple reunited last month after nearly four year’s apart and the rapper’s mother’s pastor as offered the pair some tips for their relationship.
A source told the Mirror: ‘Stormzy and Maya have been encouraged to go to “couples’ therapy” to nip their past issues in the bud once and for all. He is very close to his mum Abigail’s pastor, and she made the recommendation.
‘They plan to use him in a similar role to Bishop T.D. Jakes in Oprah Winfrey’s life, who has guided her through the highs and lows of life with transformational thinking.’
They added: ‘Stormzy and Maya have never stopped loving each other and want to do all they can to protect their second shot at lifelong happiness. Stormzy has already told friends he’s ready to have kids as early as next year.’
MailOnline has contacted a representative for Stormzy for comment. A representative for Maya declined to comment.
Rapper Stormzy, 30, and television presenter Maya, 29, reunited last month in Greece after previously dating from 2015 to 2019.
The grime star has reportedly told pals’ he’s ‘determined’ to show his commitment to the presenter after winning her back following their split in 2019.
Last week Maya and Stormzy ended months of speculation by confirming that they were well and truly back together after jetting to Greece for a romantic getaway.
A source told The Sun: ‘Stormzy knows how lucky he is to have gotten back, and he’s determined not to lose her again.’
‘He wants to make her his wifey for lifey. He’s telling his mates this is it for him now, he’s found the one.’
It comes after Maya and Stormzy reportedly got stuck on the tarmac at an airport in Greece after their private jet was grounded amid air traffic control delays.
But their getaway – which came soon after Maya’s 29th birthday – came to a chaotic end as their private jet was reportedly grounded amid air traffic control issues.
They were said to be amongst thousands of stranded Brits after 80 per cent of flights leaving the UK have been delayed, with disruptions continuing into the week.
Britain’s National Air Traffic Services (NATS) said it experienced ‘technical issues’ that forced controllers to switch from an automatic system for landing and dispatching flights to a manual one on one of the year’s busiest days.
Of Maya and Stormzy’s delay, a source told The Sun: ‘Stormzy and Maya flew to Athens by helicopter then got in his private jet – but ended up being stuck on the tarmac for hours because of the flight chaos.
‘Eventually, they took off but on another jet and got back late last night.’
However, after they managed to get another flight back home, Maya took to her Instagram Stories to share a snap of herself enjoying a glass of wine on the jet.
The pair were believed to have been soaking up the sun in a £2,700-a-night Greek villa as a ‘late birthday gift’ to Maya.
During the holiday, the pair delighted fans as they were spotted walking hand-in-hand after rumours of a romantic reconciliation surfaced more than a week ago.
Insiders told The Sun that their relationship was secretly rekindled a year ago as they were reportedly seen kissing in an extra special VIP area in Germany, days before the GQ bash in London.
It has also been claimed that Stormzy’s mum, Abigail Owuo, was the matchmaker who ‘motivated him to make amends with Maya’.
A source told The Sun: ‘Stormzy is really open about wanting to settle down and have kids one day, and he knows Maya is ‘The One’.’
Speculation had been rife about whether Maya and Stormzy had reunited after she was spotted at his All Points East show last weekend.
The couple dated for four years before parting ways in 2019, with the rapper publicly declaring he has ‘never loved anyone how I’ve loved her’.
He has always denied infidelity in the relationship but admitted he had to learn hard lessons about his behaviour, describing it as ‘disrespectful’.
Speaking to Louis Theroux in his interview series, the rapper admitted to making mistakes during their four-year relationship but revealed he has since grown.
He explained: ‘My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man. It was like, OK, you made a mistake, and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.
‘That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? Away from someone passing away, that’s the biggest loss you can have.’
