Melissa McCarthy gushed about Harry Styles on Monday while promoting her new Netflix series featuring his music on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

The 51-year-old comedian stars in the apocalyptic workplace comedy God’s Favorite Idiot along with her husband Ben Falcone, 48, who also created the series and joined her on the CBS talk show.

James, 43, noted that music by 28-year-old Harry was all over the show and asked Melissa if she was as much of a fan as Ben is of the English singer.

‘Yes. I think he’s just great. I think he’s wildly talented and I just love everything that he is such his own person. Not just style in the sense of fashion, but being like ”This is who I am. This is how I want to present myself and kind of move through the world”,’ Melissa said.

‘And I think it’s just such a lovely thing to see someone just be like ”I’m okay with who I am”,’ she said.

‘He’s also a massive rock star so maybe it’s not that tough,’ Melissa then quipped.

‘If you actually parse it through, he is incredibly attractive, he’s incredibly talented, he can sing, he can do anything, he can act,’ Ben added.

‘He’s so at peace with his outrageous global success. It’s amazing to see,’ James joked about the One Direction star.

Ben explained that Harry’s music became integral to his show because their youngest daughter Georgie, 15, was listening to his music a lot and also learning how to play it on the piano.

‘And I was going over the top by even listening to more, like that’s not a normal dad thing to do. I was like let’s play this again, re-rack this,’ Ben said.

‘And then I started listening to it while I was writing the show and I just thought well let me actually just write in the songs that I would like to get. And then we got them,’ Ben said.

‘I couldn’t believe it,’ he said.

‘Harry or his team came back so fast and said sure,’ Ben said.

‘We were completely shocked,’ Melissa said.

Melissa and Ben also have 16-year-old daughter Vivian together.

Ben said he wrote a book titled God’s Favorite Idiot when he was in his 20s, showed it to a few people and then put the book in a drawer.

Melissa suggested they revive it about three years ago when they were talking about something fun to do next.

She said the show is about a very sweet, average man who God chooses to be the messenger that we’re all in it together.
