A Metropolitan Police officer accused of 44 sex crimes against 12 women has been charged with nine more offences – including six counts of rape. 

David Carrick, 47, is now facing a total of 53 charges, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed on Thursday. 

Carrick, who was part of the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was a firearms officer who used to work on the Parliamentary estate.

The CPS today said it had authorised Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge Carrick with a further nine offences against one complainant that allegedly took place in July 2003.

These include six counts of rape, one of false imprisonment, one of indecent assault and one of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Carrick will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday at 2pm in relation to the new charges. He has previously denied all other charges.

PC David Carrick, 47, is now accused of the following charges:

  • 3 counts of coercive and controlling behaviour
  • 3 counts of false imprisonment 
  • 2 counts of attempted rape
  • 1 count of attempted sexual assault by penetration 
  • 1 count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent
  • 1 count of indecent assault 
  • 1 count of possession with a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence

He is due to face trial over the previous 44 charges on February 6 2023 at Southwark Crown Court.

The issue at trial – set to last eight weeks – is expected to be the matter of consent.  

The first accusation against him was that he raped a woman in a hotel room on  September 5 2020 after a Tinder date.

The charges also include allegations that Carrick, who has been suspended by the Met, raped one woman in the woods and sexually assaulted her by urinating on her and hitting her with a belt.

The indictment alleges that some women were repeatedly raped, sexually assaulted and forced to perform degrading sex acts by Carrick, while one woman is said to have been falsely imprisoned in a cupboard under the stairs.

Carrick is now facing a total of 27 charges of rape, nine counts of sexual assault, five counts of assault by penetration and two counts of attempted rape.

He is also accused of two counts of attempted rape, one count of attempted sexual assault by penetration, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, one count of indecent assault and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
