Met Police open fire and shoot man ‘carrying a gun’ before evacuating roads in south-east London

  • Officers responded to reports of man with firearm in Creek Road, Greenwich
  • Man was shot by police during the incident and has been taken to hospital 
  • Police say there doesn’t appear to be an ongoing threat to the wider public 

The police have shot a man believed to be carrying a gun before evacuating roads in south-east London.  

Officers responded to multiple 999 reports of a man with a firearm in Creek Road, Greenwich, at just after 2.30pm today.

The Metropolitan Police said: ‘Firearms officers attended the scene. The man was located. A police firearm was discharged and the man sustained a gunshot injury.

The spokesman added: 'London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance also attended. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition'

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area.
