The 18-year-old who was gunned down trying to save the life of his best friend after a shooter opened fire at a Miami restaurant has been identified, as police continue to hunt for his killer.

Josue Quintero, was killed early Sunday morning when gunfire broke out at a restaurant- bar in Allapattah, a neighborhood in Miami-Dade County.

Quintero, the youngest victim of the shooting, had been there with his best friend and ran to save him when the restaurant was sprayed with a hail of bullets.

Grieving family members said Quintero referred to the friend he protected as ‘his brother.’

Marlon Javier Machado, 44, a married father of a three-year-old, was also killed in the early morning shooting.

A third victim who survived the shooting was transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and is now in stable condition.

Police said one of the men died at the scene while another one was pronounced dead after being rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Detectives gathered evidence from the crime scene and in the back parking lot area of the restaurant where yellow markers and orange flags were placed.

It is unclear if the deceased knew the shooter. Police are investigating and have not yet released a potential motive.

Miami Police Department Officer Michael Vega released to DailyMail.com the names of the two people fatally wounded but did not release the name of the best friend.

The teen and his friend were outside of the business when they were shot at, according to the spokesperson. There are no new updates on the case and it is an ongoing investigation.

Hours after the shooting, Quintero’s sister Kelly Barillas wrote on a GoFundMe that she and her family are going through ‘incomparable pain.’

‘As a family, we are trying to be well but it is impossible,’ she wrote. ‘Our hearts are broken and we still do not understand why things happened but we are sure that there is a little angel in heaven, who will always take care of us,’ she wrote.

She said their mother is single and was hoping to raise money for a funeral.

As of Tuesday afternoon, $6,300 was raised towards their goal of $10,000.

Meanwhile, family members of Chavez said that their relative moved to the United States to provide a better life for his family and that his wife and child, who hadn’t yet arrived in the country, were grief-stricken.

On Monday, a GoFundMe was created by Ashley Baez to help raise funds so family members can send Chavez’s body back to his native country to be buried.

‘His family needs your help to be able to watch over him and repatriate him to his country where his mother is waiting for him,’ Baez wrote. ‘Please, if it is within your reach, I would greatly appreciate your donation.’

The site has already garnered nearly twenty donations totaling $3,100 towards their goal of $10,000.
