Mira Sorvino models ‘everything will be OK’ shirt as she arrives at Dancing With The Stars rehearsals… a year after heartbreaking loss of dad Paul Sorvino
The 55-year-old Mighty Aphrodite actress put on a casual display as she headed to practice for the first time ahead of the upcoming 32nd season of the ABC dance competition show.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the Oscar winner had joined the cast for the 32nd season and has been paired with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.
She was all smiles as she made her way into the dance studio with a large green duffel bag in tow, another bag on her shoulder, and a to-go container of food in her hand.
For her first practice, she donned a baby blue T-shirt with a heart graphic in the middle and text that read: ‘Everything will be ok’.
She also dressed for comfort with a pair of black leggings as well as tall, wool socks and high-top sneakers.
Mira bundled up with a cropped denim jacket lined with a beige, fuzzy sherpa material.
To shield her face from the sun, she sported a cream fedora with a pastel pink band over her platinum blonde tresses.
Sorvino also wore a pair of oversized, brown-tinted aviator sunglasses to cover her eyes.
The movie bet jazzed up her otherwise casual and comfortable ensemble with dainty and delicate gold jewelry pieces.
The blonde was seen wearing dangling earrings, a pendant necklace, as well as a chic ring.
Arriving around the same time was real estate mogul and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Mauricio Umansky — who is partnered with professional dancer Emma Slater.
He beamed widely ahead of practice as he showed up in a black hoodie, basketball shorts, and a white baseball cap.
He was seen toting a black, leather Louis Vuitton duffel bag and a gray insulated water bottle.
Alyson Hannigan was also seen arriving on the same day to practice with her partner, Sasha Farber.
The How I Met Your Mother actress looked radiant with a makeup-free visage as she headed into the studio.
She was spotted sporting a muted green T-shirt teamed with black sweatpants and patterned sneakers.
She had multiple colorful bags in tow and was also seen well-prepared with a water bottle.
Previously, it was revealed on Wednesday morning that Mira and the other newcomers would be joining Dancing With The Stars during an airing of Good Morning America.
On the morning show, it was revealed which celebrities would be matched with the professional dancers. It was also announced which judges would be returning to the show.
Mira’s latest project comes one year after the death of her father Paul Sorvino at age 83.
He was best known for playing Lucchese crime family caporegime Paulie Cicero in the 1990 hit crime drama Goodfellas.
Ahead of Wednesday’s announcement, Ariana Madix, Charity Lawson and Jamie Lynn Spears had been announced as three of the celebrities competing for the trophy.
Alfonso Ribeiro and new co-host Julianne Hough will take over as emcee’s.
Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough returning as judges.
While the series usually lives on Monday nights, it’s moving to Tuesdays this year, kicking off with a two-and-a-half hour premiere on September 26.
In addition to airing on ABC, it will stream live on Disney+ and be available next day on Hulu.
A year ago she said she was ‘dreading’ the death of her parents her whole life.
Mira admitted in August 2022 that her grief was still very raw.
‘I miss you Dad! I have been dreading the death of my parents my whole life. Now in part it has come to pass,’ the Barcelona actress tweeted.
She added, ‘I have huge compassion for all who have lost parents. It leaves you unmoored, thrusts you into a position you were unprepared for, without the counsel and love of those you valued most…’
Mira – whose mother is Paul’s ex-wife Lorraine Davis – received support from her famous friends, with Star Wars actor Mark Hamill writing: ‘Dear Mira- Your loss is shared by a world that was enriched by his talent impeccable artistry. His legacy is immeasurable, like you, I will treasure his memory forever.’
And Patricia Arquette wrote: ‘I know it’s a big loss. Your Dad was a wonderful actor too and so proud of you.’
Mira previously paid tribute to her ‘wonderful father’, after his death.
She said: ‘My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed. My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over.
‘He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.’
Paul died from natural causes after battling various health issues in recent years.
His wife Dee Dee, who he married in 2014, said in a statement: ‘Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life, and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage.’
As well as Mira, Paul was also father to Amanda and Michael and had five grandchildren.
Sorvino of Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion fame mentioning her dad Paul during her Oscar acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress for her turn in the 1995 film Mighty Aphrodite made the rounds.
The clip was touching as when Mira said on stage that her father Paul taught her everything she knew about acting, he covered his face with his hands and broke down in tears as he sat next to her mother Lorraine Davis.
The speech took place at the 68th Academy Awards in 1996 which was held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles.
‘When you give me this award, you honor my father, Paul Sorvino, who has taught me everything I know about acting,’ said Mira who wore her blonde hair up in a bun as she added a stunning diamond necklace.
‘I love you very much, dad,’ she added.
Soon after news of Paul’s death, Mira took to Twitter to express her sadness.
‘My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed. My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over. He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.’
The two were always close. In April, she wished him a happy 83rd birthday. ‘A very Happy Birthday to my father Paul Sorvino,’ she wrote on Twitter alongside a black and white throwback image of herself and her father.
‘I miss you so much and hope to be together in person very soon!’ the Barcelona star added.
