Shocking CCTV footage has emerged of the moment a BMW driver crushes a cat to death in front of its horrified owners – and then laughs about it.

Alicia Robinson, 28, and Robin Newsome, 32, were at home on their quiet residential street in Halifax, West Yorkshire, when the driver hit their cat Ice on Tuesday, June 7.

Horrific footage shows the driver turn his car around at the bottom of the road, then hitting the one-year-old white cat, who got stuck under the wheel of the car.

The couple can then be seen frantically running out of the house to alert the driver.

Ice, named for his white fur, was rushed to the vet but sadly died of his injuries.

His distraught owner Alicia says she now has trouble sleeping since the incident while Robin fumed the driver should have taken more care while driving.

Robin said: ‘He got out of the car and thought it was funny. He just wrecked our family.

‘It is cruelty to animals. There is no way you cannot see a pure white cat.

‘Every driver should be taking care, it could have been a child.’

The couple confronted the driver after the horrific incident and the man passed his details onto them.

But Alicia said he ‘had a smile on his face’ and was ‘laughing and sniggering’ as he did.

Alicia added: ‘We are upset. I am crying a lot after collecting his ashes. I’m having trouble sleeping.’

The couple have now reported the driver to the RSPCA, and they plan to contact the police.

They also sent him the vet’s invoice but have not heard back. Now, they are calling on him to ‘to do the decent thing’ and reimburse them after they had to cremate their pet and bring his ashes home.

‘We as a family are broken,’ said Robin.
