  • Horrified viewers express views in comments, with many pointing out ‘red flags’

The perfect wedding is the dream of every bride, who hopes in her heart that any troublesome relatives can behave themselves for at least one day.

But that proved far from the case for one poor wife-to-be whose particularly prickly mother-in-law had plenty to say, during the ceremony itself.

In a video captured by a guestS, the bride is left both red-faced and seeing red when her partner’s mother decided to berate her at the alter after she joked out her fiancé’s ‘flaws’ during a speech.

The TikTok video, which has since been deleted, was originally posted by the bride’s sister, Sarah Ragsdale, from San José, California, in 2020.

She had captioned the footage, ‘My sisters wedding a few years ago. Her MIL has always hated her. She’s just ones of those MIL’s that feel my sister is taking her son away,’ according The Scottish Sun

In a second deleted video she added: ‘Her MIL sat there as they finished their ceremony. Went outside and waited until they went outside to take their wedding pics just to start s**t again.’

Since then, the video of the shocking ceremony has been reposted on @funny.freakouts and viewed 4.3M times, amassing over 425,000 likes and over 3000 comments from shocked viewers who shared opinions on the family dynamic.

In the 31-second footage, the bride and groom could be seen standing opposite one another at the alter, midway through exchanging vows as the bride reads from a sheet of paper.

Suddenly, the unnamed mother-in-law interrupts, exclaiming: ‘You do not have to say my son has flaws.’

As the groom chuckles nervously and tells his mother to ‘be quiet,’ the bride intervenes and tells her that she ‘can leave.’

Resorting to raising her voice, the mother-in-law quips: ‘No. I don’t have to leave. The dress you’re wearing – we paid for it!’

As fellow guests attempt to calm the woman down, the bride hit back, saying, ‘You’re not gonna ruin my wedding,’ to which the mother-in-law responds, ‘You’re not gonna say my son has flaws!’

The bride argued that ‘everybody has flaws’ and that it was part of the reason she loves and wants to still marry her fiancé.

After becoming displeased at the mention of her son's 'flaws' during speech, the mother-in-law was told by the bride to leave, but hit back, saying: 'The dress you're wearing - we paid for it!'

The mother-in-law responded: ‘Like you don’t have flaws,’ which prompting both the groom and bride to order her to leave the ceremony.

Storming up to the mother-in-law in her seat, the bride roared, ‘You can get out of my wedding now,’ to which the woman screamed, ‘I’m not leaving!’ before the footage came to a stop.

Horrified TikTok users gathered in the comments to express pity on the bride, while condemning the mother-in-law’s ‘red flag’ behaviour.

One person, after observing the actions of the mother-in-law, said, ‘Red flag,’ while another agreed, writing, ‘Red flag girl.’

A fellow bewildered viewer commented, ‘Why would they invite her, had to know this was a possibility,’ while another said, ‘Run while you have the chance, honey! This is true colours if I ever saw them!’

Another appalled individual, attaching a red flag emoji, wrote: ‘The only reason she paid for anything was so she could feel like she could say something she wanted to.’

According to Daily Dot, the bride’s sister Sarah revealed later in another TikTok comment that the couple are happily married, and confirmed that the original video had been deleted because the mother-in-law had received death threats.

She wrote, ‘My sister is fine & happily married,’ before adding, ‘The MIL is no longer in contact.’
