The engineer, who at just 5ft 4ins tall and of slight build was dwarfed by Mr Cassidy, explained how the incident began after he was tasked with testing the alarms on the morning of Sunday 14 May – which necessitated it going off audibly several times over a one hour period.

The engineer told Mailonline: ‘I saw this man who was next to his big car. He was angry and I tried to explain, but he said ‘I want to speak to your manager’, so I called the building security guard.

‘I tried to explain to him that I was doing my job. I work for a maintenance company and I had been booked to test the alarm.’

‘He was really angry and I asked him to calm down. ‘But the guy wouldn’t calm down or accept what I was doing. He asked me to take my hands out of my pockets.

‘He didn’t seem to want to believe me or understand what was going on.

‘Then he went to his car, and came out with a steering lock and started threatening me so I started filming on my phone.

‘I told him there had been a misunderstanding and that he should calm down, but he said: ‘If you come near me I’ll f*****g kill you you thieving c**t’

The father-of-one went on: ‘I was really frightened.’

The man who lives in south London and had recognised well-known Ms Kensit when he had seen her on a previous occasion Mr Cassidy so was aware he was her fiancé.

It is unclear whether Mr Cassidy’s aggressive behaviour was sparked by the engineer reacting angrily when challenged to provide verification.

The father-of-one added: ‘I was quite shocked by it all. I actually didn’t think this type of thing could happen in central London.

‘It is a really rich area with successful people living there and I enjoyed looking at all the great cars parked on the streets.’
