Police confirmed in a statement there had been a report of one person receiving minor injuries.

One person on Twitter wrote: ‘This woman had a very lucky escape.’ Another added: ‘That person in the stock room was so lucky!’

However one person directed his anger at the coppers and said:  ‘They should always be anticipating hazards such as traffic and potential of cars turning at junctions.

‘This is poor from the police. No doubt he/she will be put on additional advanced training courses until performance is more suitable to the role.’
