The NBA 2K community has been vocal about the things they feel need to be changed with NBA 2K21. Per a recent tweet from 2KTV host Chris Manning, and a number of conversations I’ve had with members of the development team, an update is likely on the way to address community concerns.
Manning’s tweet mentioned one problem specifically.
The absence of Ankle Breakers in the game is a major omission considering it’s not only a major part of the fun factor when dribbling, it’s also a tool used by dribblers from a competitive standpoint. With Manning mentioning this by name in his tweet, it would seem certain this particular issue ranks high on the development team’s list of things to fix in the upcoming update.
There’s also still tons of debate going on as it relates to the shooting. A “hotfix” seems to have made it a bit too easy to make jump shots with an abundance of white releases (not perfect, but good timing/aim) falling for shooters.
Meanwhile, there are several complaints that the green release window is still too small. I was OK with where the shooting was initially, but understood the change because of how many fans were complaining. Still, there has to be a happy medium between where it is now, and where it was when the game launched on September 4.
NBA 2K League star Josh Humphries aka Choc mentioned the same thing in a recent tweet:
Another ongoing issue is the complete malfunction of the coveted 2K Share option. This is perhaps the most egregious issue with the game currently because it hasn’t ever worked since the game was released. These other issues are about preference, and/or not actual selling points to any demographic.
Not having ankle breakers doesn’t completely kill the purpose of buying or playing the game, even for the biggest dribble head. However, not allowing any of the offline roster creators or members of the community who adore the feature to get any usage from this tool is arguably the toughest pill to swallow for any demographic in the 2K community.
I’ve spoken with a member of the 2K dev team about this problem, and like most who love the feature, am hopeful it will be remedied in the upcoming update.
