NSYNC sends fans wild as they release first song in TWO DECADES for new Trolls: Band Together soundtrack
NSYNC is preparing to release its first new material in 21 years.
The band, which made an appearance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards Tuesday, said on Wednesday it will put out its first new material since 2002, with the single Better Place.
The single, which comes out September 29, will be on the soundtrack of the forthcoming film Trolls Band Together, as a new trailer for the upcoming animated movie was released.
The group – composed of Justin Timberlake, 42, Lance Bass, 44, Joshua ‘JC’ Chasez, 47, Joey Fatone, 46, and Chris Kirkpatrick, 51 – last released music in 2002, with a Neptunes remix of their collaboration with Nelly, Girlfriend, Billboard reported.
The ensemble was well-received in their return to the VMAs stage – they had last appeared at the event together in 2013 – as they presented Taylor Swift with the Best Pop award for Anti-Hero.

According to the outlet, recent promotional materials for the Dreamworks film hinted at a potential reunion, as posters for Trolls Band Together displayed a portion of the band’s logo and a QR code.
The QR code leads to the site TakeYouToABetterPlace.com, which features a sample of the song.
Timberlake reprises his voice role of the character Branch, which he did in 2016’s Trolls and the 2020 sequel Trolls World Tour.
Other stars who have voice roles in the upcoming movie include Anna Kendrick, Daveed Diggs, Zooey Deschanel, RuPaul, Eric André and Amy Schumer.
The storyline of the movie mirrors Timberlake’s boy band roots, according to Dreamworks.
‘Poppy discovers that Branch was once part of a boy band, BroZone, with his brothers: Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay,’ a logline for the film read.
It continued: ‘But when Floyd is kidnapped, Branch and Poppy embark on a journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd.’
The movie is due in theaters November 17.

The band teased a mysterious announcement in a video they posted to their Instagram on Wednesday.
In the video, the group stood backstage as they lip synced along to audio from Friends of Rachel Green and Joey Tribbiani in The One With All The Resolutions.
Timberlake begins, lip syncing, ‘Do you know something?’
It jumps to Joey Fatone, who throws the question back: ‘Do you know something?’
‘I might know something,’ Kirkpatrick jumps in.
‘I might know something too,’ Chasez says.
‘What’s the thing you know?’ Bass asks.
‘Oh no, I can’t tell you until you tell me what you know,’ Justin continues.
‘I can’t tell you what I know,’ Joey said.
‘Well I can’t tell you what I know!’ Chris says.
‘Okay fine!’ JC says.

But TMZ reported that despite the positive reaction to the reunion, the band will not be reuniting for a tour or residency.
Still, it was clearly a blast for the group to reunite as they were all spotted out having dinner together after the show.
The NSYNC appearance was revealed just hours before the show, and when they took the stage together, it caused pop icon Taylor Swift to leapt to her feet, completely stunned.
She was seen mouthing, ‘Are you joking?’ before covering her mouth in shock, as all five members took the stage – all donning tie-less suits of different cuts and colors.
Timberlake bowed to the crowd, who gave them a raucous ovation, as they showed a stunned Swift again…
‘Hello VMAs! Over 20 years ago we were just kids won Best Pop Video for Bye Bye Bye. It was our first VMA it meant the world to us,’ Chasez said.
Kirkpatrick added, ‘That award validated our hard work and, well, we might have won again for Pop,’ before asking, ‘You guys remember that?’
Bass added, ‘A lot has changed in the past two decades, but the one thing that remains the same is that a creative boundary-pushing video leaves a lasting mark for decades.

Fatone said, ‘We just wanted to say thank you, MTV, and especially all of you guys. Thank you so much, each and each and every one of you, for supporting your favorite musical artists. Thank you guys.’
They presented the award for Best Pop, which Taylor Swift won for Anti-Hero, beating out Demi Lovato (Swine), Dua Lipa (Dance the Night), Ed Sheeran (Eyes Closed), Miley Cyrus (Flowers), Olivia Rodrigo (Vampire) and P!nk (Trustfall).
Timberlake announced the winner as, ‘The unstoppable Taylor Swift,’ as she took to the stage, giving each of the NSYNC members a hug, clearly still stunned, with Lance Bass even giving her a custom friendship bracelet.
‘I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this. I had your dolls. Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now? They’re going to do something and I need to know what it is,’ Swift said of group, presuming they are reuniting to announce another tour or album.
‘You guys are – you are pop personified so to receive this from your golden pop hands is… really, it’s too much. Thank you for the friendship bracelets,’ she added.

‘I love making pop music, I love making pop music videos, I also love making country.
‘I love slinking around different genres and the only reason I’m allowed to do that is because you, the fans, gave me the opportunity to do that,’ she said to applause.
‘It’s all just one big adventure and it’s all so much to challenge myself to make music that’s different than what I made last and I just love you for it. But I really love making pop music, so thank you so, so, so much,’ Swift concluded.
