EXCLUSIVE: ‘We won’t be watching though!’ Olivia and Alex Bowen reveal they WOULD be happy for baby son Abel to go on Love Island when older

Olivia and Alex Bowen have revealed they would be happy for their baby son Abel to go on Love Island when he grows up – but admitted they won’t be tuning in.

The reality star, 28, and her partner, 31, who came second in the ITV2 show’s 2016 series, welcomed their first child, five months, in June 2022.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards on Tuesday, Alex initially said there was ‘no way’ he’d let their little one appear on the programme where they found fame.

But Olivia soon added: ‘He could go on Love Island but we might not watch it like my dad didn’t watch me. I’d probably be the same.’

When asked what they’d learnt about themselves since becoming parents, she replied: ‘That I’m impatient!

‘I think we were always quite used to doing everything we wanted to do straight away and you could always you know, go out, you didn’t have to plan too much, but now literally it takes about half an hour to get out the door.

‘There’s just a lot of differences. Like, now being a parent, you don’t come first anymore. You have to be so selfless, which is a great thing. It’s taught us a lot.’

The event celebrates dedicated healthcare workers and, discussing how the NHS has helped her, the influencer continued: ‘Recently we just had our baby boy and it was probably one of the scariest things that we’ve been through but the midwives were just incredible.

‘Everyone was there for you. We met so many people and everyone just cared for you in such an amazing way. And I honestly couldn’t thank them enough just for getting my little boy here safely.

Earlier this month, Olivia said she feels like an ‘alien’ in her own body four months after giving birth to her first child.

The star spoke to MailOnline about how she has been dealing with postpartum body confidence and how Alex, 31, has been a ‘punching bag’ during emotional moments.

Olivia’s comments come after new mother Chloe Madeley admitted she can’t imagine ever ‘feeling sexy again’, and while she currently doesn’t feel herself in her body, Olivia insisted she will feel sexy again in the future.

Olivia said that she has found it hard getting to grips with her new body, admitting that she is a ‘very different Olivia’ to the one she once was before giving birth.

Discussing Chloe’s experience, she said: ‘More luck to her if she’s come out with a body banging like that and you want to show it off. Go for it, I think it’s just a difficult thing because some women find it so hard afterwards.’

‘For me, as well I feel very alien in my body, I feel very different. At the same time, I know I will feel sexy again, 100 per cent.

‘Because I know that feeling sexy and feeling confident comes from within, it doesn’t come from what you look like or what body shape you have.

‘It’s all relative to the person that has the emotions.. On her behalf she must not be able to feel like herself and I can completely sympathise with that.

‘When I had Abel I didn’t feel like myself, I felt like a different version of myself and I think you are in a bit of a daze when you have a baby so you don’t really know how to feel.

‘She’s only had the baby a few weeks ago, her hormones are still raging, you can’t really attack a woman for how she’s feeling, it doesn’t matter if it’s not how you feel, we are all going to feel differently towards it.’
