On Wednesday night, Winfrey reunited with her BFF of 47 years – CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King – to see the Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Piano Lesson at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Backstage, the OWN CEO gushed to director LaTanya Richardson Jackson the drama was ‘incredible, stellar’ and the 68-year-old journalist praised the cast and said it was ‘worth staying up late on a school night’ – according to Oprah Daily.

Oprah and Gayle – who posed with Samuel L. Jackson, Danielle Brooks, and John David Washington – famously spent the night together the first time they met in 1976 due to a Baltimore snowstorm, but they are not lesbian lovers.

‘I understand why people think we’re gay,’ Winfrey admitted to O magazine back in 2006.

‘There isn’t a definition in our culture for this kind of bond between women. So I get why people have to label it – how can you be this close without it being sexual? I’ve told nearly everything there is to tell. All my stuff is out there. People think I’d be so ashamed of being gay that I wouldn’t admit it? Oh, please.’

Missing from the Big Apple fun was the Emmy and Tony-winning producer’s partner since 1986 – motivational speaker Stedman Graham – who was last pictured sitting at the head of the table opposite her on Thanksgiving.
