A children’s hospital in Wisconsin is receiving backlash after hiring transgender activists to serve as chaplains and ‘spiritual care interns.’

According to a new report, employees at the Children’s Wisconsin hospital were recently notified that a new and controversial chaplain had been hired.

Fliers sent around to staff members said: ‘meet Your New Chaplain: Kate Newendorp,’ according to the report.

Newendorp, who describes herself as a ‘Chaplain desiring to shake things up’ in her Twitter bio, says she is ‘daydreaming’ about ‘a time where God isn’t referred to with male pronouns.’

Now, the hospital is facing backlash.

‘We have already seen that Children’s holds little value for respecting deeply held religious beliefs, given their recent COVID Religious Waiver Committee. But this feels like a step too far,’ one former Children’s Wisconsin told The Federalist

‘This feels like they have actively recruited activists into this field to further their progressive agenda,’ the person told the outlet.

‘I think this situation really calls into question who do we want guiding the spiritual development of our children — especially children who are stuck in a hospital, isolated, sometimes alone, and extremely vulnerable and easily impressionable,’ the former employee said of the new hires.

The flier sent around states that Newendorp uses female pronouns while her fiancé, Jensen, goes by both non-binary and male pronouns.

‘Working in a pediatric hospital is a dream come true!’ Newendorp says in the flier obtained by The Federalist

‘I am so excited to be working alongside everyone and am pumped to be part of the team. Think of me as your friendly next-door neighbor,’ Newendorp said.

According to social posts made by Newendorp, the woman has advocated for other LGBTQ+ members in the clergy.

‘Love Jesus. Be gay. Get ordained,’ Newendorp wrote on Facebook earlier this year, according to the outlet.

Newendorp’s social media channels have since all been set to private.

‘What better way to celebrate Pride than being ordained?! Many thanks to my church and classis for being willing to stand for queer folks being included in ministry and for allowing me to follow God’s call,’ the chaplain wrote.

She also spoke freely about her disdain for aspects of her profession after she got engaged to her fiancé, who is transgender.

‘Also your casual reminder that my validity as an ordained minister is currently under review by my denomination because of the love I feel for my fiancé,’ she wrote in October.

‘Do better Church, because I’m not going anywhere. I was called,’ the chaplain said.

The woman, according to the news outlet,  also has used her various social media accounts to advocate for COVID vaccinations, abortion, masking, and voting for politicians in the Democratic party.

In one post, she reportedly said abortion is a ‘religious freedom.’

‘People of all genders and sexualities have and need abortions,’ Newendorp wrote.

‘Abortion is healthcare. I am an ordained minister who supports a person’s right to choose what is right for their life and their body. I am a pastor who is pro-choice.’

A flier was also sent around announcing the hiring of Meg Trimm, a ‘Spiritual Care Intern’ who uses ‘they/them’ pronouns.

The Federalist also reported that Trimm, previous to their new position, worked as a community educator and ‘LGBTQ+ teen safe space facilitator.’

Trimm reportedly also believes that ‘a professional chaplain’s job is not to convert anyone or preach religion, but to empower each person to find and use the hope and resilience systems they already have,’ according to the publication.

In a TikTok posted in October that Trimm also believes being transgender is ‘an integral part of God’s saving work.’

‘I am becoming convinced more and more that being TRANSGENDER is not strange or broken to God, but possibly an integral part of God’s saving work,’ they captioned the video.

‘If God is beyond gender then perhaps God is pangender or/agender. Then perhaps God is non-binary. And then God BECAME a man.’

In another video, Trimm described themselves as a ‘non-binary, gender fluid, pangender trans person.’

They have also posted several videos on their own TikTok page dedicated to their journey with religion and being in the LGBTQ+ community.
