A pensioner was callously bashed when he was set upon in a vicious road rage attack that left him black and blue.
The 81-year-old said he was attacked by a young man on New Zealand‘s Kapiti Coast and still fears he could be targeted again.
After spending the night at a motel with his wife in Otaki, in the north of NZ, he got into a verbal confrontation with another vehicle owner the next morning.
‘Colourful’ words were exchanged between the pair, before the situation quickly became physical.

‘He tooted his horn, so I tooted back,’ the man told the New Zealand Herald.
‘He then pulled around in front of me and blocked the road and started abusing me.
‘I said, “I don’t want to talk to you, just get in your car and go away”. And he kept going and then he bashed me through the window.’
The former truck driver also said ‘there was blood everywhere’ at the scene, and that he ‘split his gums on my false teeth.’
The elderly man, who said he was shaken after the incident, wanted to thank two teachers who happened to be on the scene within seconds.
‘I really want to thank them, they were teachers from Otaki school,’ he said.
‘They were bloody marvellous. I didn’t ring the police, they rung the police for me.’
The alleged attacker, who was driving a red Mitsubishi Evo, provided a statement to police stating the older man was in fact the instigator.
He claimed the 81-year-old pulled him into the window and scratched his neck.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
