Peter Andre jokes his six-pack is ‘hibernating’ as he is gifted a cake featuring a ripped shirtless model of him to celebrate his 30-year career

Peter Andre has joked that his six-pack is ‘hibernating’ after he was questioned about his physique while being gifted a cake with a shirtless model of him on it.

The singer, 49, appeared on Wednesday’s This Morning to celebrate his 30-year showbusiness career and was presented with a cake to mark the occasion.

The cake featured a shirtless model of Peter on top of it, channeling his Mysterious Girl music video as the ripped model looked like he was dancing in water.

After being gifted with the cake, Peter couldn’t help but comment on the fondant version of himself, saying: ‘That is amazing! Look at those abs!’

When asked by hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle if he still has his famous abs, Peter joked that they were ‘hibernating’.

‘They’re hibernating, they’re there. They’re still kind of there,’ Peter said of his six-pack.

Josie and Craig, who are standing in on the show while the regular hosts are on their summer holidays, then ask if they can feel his stomach to see if his abs are still there.

After hilariously feeling Peter’s abs, Josie then declared: ‘I can confirm they’re still there, they’re still there!’

Elsewhere on the chat show, Peter also spoke about his 30-year showbusiness career as he described his fans as being ‘incredible’ to him.

When asked if he could believe he had been in the industry for three decades, Peter said: ‘I cant believe I’ve been alive 30 years, joking! I’m buzzed. Next year I’m going to do something to celebrate.’

Looking back on his long career, Peter said it hasn’t all been plain-sailing as he admitted that he has been ‘arrogant’ at times.

‘I think I went through an arrogant stage, I regret how I did things, how I acted. When you look back you realise, I’ve grown up now,’ he said.

His latest comments come after Peter revealed that he straightens his naturally curly hair after being targeted by racist bullies as a child.

Earlier this month, Peter, who is of Greek heritage, said that despite therapy he still sees ‘what others called me’ when he looks in the mirror.

The musician revealed that when his family moved from North London to Australia at the age of six, his English accent was another reason he found himself singled out.

He told The Mirror: ‘I had an English accent, curly hair, a big nose – and we really stood out. I still straighten my hair because the curly hair reminds me of me being that little kid and those kids calling me what they did at school.’

He told the publication that his insecurities became even worse when he was a victim of an unprovoked knife attack in a nightclub.

In his late teens, a gang pulled him into the bathroom and held a knife to his throat, and although he emerged, unharmed Peter revealed he was left with emotional scars.

Peter said he still doesn’t like going to nightclubs now, saying: ‘That’s when I started to internalise the fear. I just bottled it up and thought, ‘I’ll be fine’. Because other people can’t see it, they think you’re fine, and you suffer in silence.’

Peter has previously spoken out about his desire to move back to Australia in a bid to be closer to his elderly parents.

His wife Emily, 32, told The Sun: ‘It’s a tough one. It’s hard for him having his family there. At the same time we have kids who are at school here, my work is here, a lot of his work is here.’

She went on to say that while the couple have talked about the move, nothing has yet been ‘planned’.

The Mysterious Girl hitmaker married Emily in 2015, with the couple sharing Amelia, eight, and Theo, five.

Peter’s wedding to doctor Emily came 10 years after he married Katie Price in a lavish ceremony in 2005. Peter and Katie share kids Junior, 17, and Princess, 15.
