Piece of cliff falls into sea in Devon causing plume of dust to rise into air in front of tourists

This is the moment a chunk of cliff collapses into the sea in front of a boat load of shocked tourists in Devon.

The collapse happened near Lynmouth, on the north Devon coast, yesterday, and was filmed by tourists on a boat run by tour firm Ilfracombe Sea Safari.

Footage shows an enormous piece of the cliff in the water as dust which has been disturbed by the collapse rises into the air.

The person filming is at the back of the rigid-inflatable boat (RIB) and appears to be one of seven people on board.

As the boat bobs in the water, the piece of the cliff is seen sticking out of the waves as the dust rises around it.

Ilfracombe Sea Safari had been taking the tourists on a trip around the coast to Lynmouth when the collapse happened.

Paul Hutchings, who runs the firm, was on the boat at the time.

He told Devon Live: ‘The guys on our two-hour Lynmouth safari witnessed a massive cliff fall which was amazing for us to see.

‘It was a really unusual place for it to happen and we didn’t expect to see it happening there.’
