Pokémon Go players need to start making plans to go to Liverpool for the UK’s first ever Safari Zone event.
We’re still only a couple of months into 2020 and Pokémon Go has already undergone a number of changes.
Recently, a number of Generation V pokémon were added to the game and now Niantic has announced a brand new live event set to happen in a couple of months.
Named after the same location from the original Red and Blue games, the Safari Zone event will be taking place in Liverpool, specifically Sefton Park, on Friday 17 April and run throughout that weekend.
Described as a maritime-themed event, players will be able to catch pokémon found in water, namely Krabby, Dratini, Chinchou, and Oshawott. Unown V will also be available for some reason.
Possibly the most exciting bit of news, though, is that players will be able to encounter wild Relicanths. Relicanth is usually only available in places like New Zealand and Samoa, meaning players will have an easier time completing their pokédexes.
The official website, which contains a full list of details, also teases other pokémon that otherwise can’t be found in the UK, as well as pokéstops that offer special 2km eggs and a City Explorer Pass that will offer unique bonuses.
Tickets are available for purchase right now through the Pokémon GO app, and cost £12. However, you can spend £18 to get an early access ticket which grants you an extra two hours.
Pokémon Go is available on iOS and Android devices.
