Queen Maxima of the Netherlands opens the House for Culture and Administration in Groningen

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands cut a stylish figure today as she visited the House for Culture and Administration in Groningen, for its official opening.

The Dutch Queen, 50, sported a brown chiffon dress that showcased detailed teal embroidered stripes which she paired with soft brown leather gloves to compliment.

Also accompanying the outfit, the monarch chose a suede tan-coloured clutch that matched the tone of her weaved straw hat that featured a flipped brim.

Also choosing some of her signature dangly earrings the Queen opted for a detailed gold pair that branched out before some delicately hung dark blue jewels and for additional jewellery chose an understated black and gold watch.

The opening of Hoogezand’s House for Culture and Administration comes after a plan in 2012 where officials decided group together the town hall, library, arts centre and theatre in one well-functioning building in a bid to improve facilities.

Architects reused parts of the original theatre and town hall building from the 1980s, and integrated it with new infrastructure in a bid to build sustainably.

The building’s biggest improvement is undoubtedly the bridge that connects the town hall and theatre, two sites that previously were poorly accessible.

Architects of the project said, ‘The defining element in the design is the high central inner walkway, which links the two parts of the building, connects all functions and provides an architectural accent at the entrance.’
