A body language expert has listed the ‘telling’ body language signs that suggest Michael Clarke wasn’t being truthful when he was accused of cheating with his ex Pip Edwards in Noosa.

A now-infamous video shows the ex-Australian cricket captain copping a barrage of expletive-filled abuse and insults from his girlfriend Jade Yarbrough.

Jade accused the cricket legend of sleeping with P.E Nation activewear tycoon on December 17 – as well as messaging his ex and asking her to come to India with him.

Relationship expert Louanne Ward, from Perth, said a number of Michael’s words and actions are indicative his responses might not have been truthful on the video.

These include his splayed arms to make himself look bigger, the rising inflection of his voice and removal of his shirt.

TAKING HIS SHIRT OFF

The first body language sign that Michael wasn’t being truthful is by trying to ‘make himself look bigger’ in the footage by removing his shirt.

‘People….often make really big, bold gestures in an attempt to intimidate,’ Louanne told FEMAIL.

‘Look at the way Michael was walking in that video and you’ll notice his arms are rounded and splayed.’

She also highlighted the fact that he removed his shirt, which is the ‘fight response’.

RISING INFLECTIONS

The second ‘telling’ sign that Louanne noticed was the ‘rising inflections’ in Michael’s voice as he pleaded with girlfriend Jade.

‘When someone is not telling the truth, their voice goes up a little bit at the end of a word,’ Louanne said.

‘You’ll notice that you can definitely hear the inflections in Michael’s voice when he speaks to Jade.’

In video of the furious exchange between Michael Clarke, Karl Stefanovic and their partners, Jade accuses Michael of sleeping with Pip Edwards on December 17 and messaging her to say she is the ‘love of his life’ and inviting her to India with him.

The video begins with Jade screaming at Michael before she slaps him in the face and pushes him away after the cricket legend claimed he had not cheated on her.

‘I’m wrong? I’m f****ng wrong! You’re a f***ing liar. I can see everything. You called her,’ Jade screams, apparently referring to messages between Michael and Pip.

What was said during the fight

Michael Clarke: ‘Baby…’

Jade Yarbrough:  ‘I’m wrong? I’m f****ng wrong! You’re a f*****g liar. I can see everything. You called her.’

Michael: ‘Baby, baby, Belly was at the house. Do it to me, do it to me, Belly was at my house. I swear on my life. On my daughter’s life, on my daughter’s life.’

‘You can do it to me, you can do it to me.’

Jade: ‘You’re f******g lying to me. You are a piece of s**t. I just spoke to her. What is wrong with you?’

Michael: ‘ No I didn’t.

‘That’s not true, that’s not true. Baby, you know what, you can hit me.’

Jade: ‘You f****d her over December 17.’

Michael:  ‘That’s not true, that’s not true.’

Jasmine Stefanovic tells Michael: ‘Get away with Karl, go with Karl.’

Jade: ‘I f*****g hate you.

Michael: ‘Jade, it’s not f******g true.’

Michael tells Karl: ‘Karlos, I can tell you now c**t, don’t you f*****g walk away. She can, she can punch me, but you, you c**t.’

Jade: ‘You piece of s**t, don’t you f*****g speak to him.’

Michael: ‘Go, hit me, hit me … do it again.’

Anthony Bell: ‘Stop it guys, stop, stop.’

Michael: Go, hit me … do it again. You’re wrong, you’re f**king wrong.

Jade: ‘Oh am I wrong? You f**ked her on December 17

Michael: ‘No I didn’t

Jade: You f**ked her  You banged on her f*****g door. I’d like to get every f******* message that you ever f*****g sent her. You want to send her to India. You want to f*****g send her to India with you.’

‘You’re the love of my life Pip, come to India.’

Michael: ‘Don’t ever talk to me again.’

Anthony: Split up, just split up guys…. please.

Jasmine: ‘Stop Jade, stop.

Anthony: Let it go Jade.’

DEFLECTING IT BACK ON TO HER

Louanne said it’s ‘interesting’ that Michael chose to ‘deflect’ it back on to Jade, when he said ‘you’re wrong’ in the clip.

‘He’s not taking any responsibility,’ she said.

‘He could have said ‘I’ rather than ‘you’, but he chose not to. That could be indicative of guilt.’

SHUFFLING FEET

One of the more subtle signs that indicate Michael might not be telling the truth, Louanne said, is that he ‘kept shuffling his feet while he was standing with Jade’.

‘His feet were dancing when you watch it carefully,’ she said.

‘What happens when you’re getting accused of something is that the limbic brain – which controls our behavioural and emotional responses – switches on and freezes body responses.

‘So when he can’t keep his feet still, that could seem to be a sign of something not quite right.’

INVASION OF PERSONAL SPACE

Finally, Louanne said that invading someone’s personal space – particularly when they’re trying to walk away – is not a good sign.

‘Clearly, Michael got slapped and that’s a big invasion of personal space,’ she said.

‘But when someone tries to remove themselves from the situation like Jade walked off, and you go and follow them and get back in their space.’

Louanne said it’s impossible to say that ‘someone is categorically not telling the truth by their body language alone’.

But you can look for ‘clusters’ in their behaviour, or three or more things that signify something is up.

‘If they have three different things, then you can certainly tell that if they’re not being dishonest, then there is something that is making them exceptionally uncomfortable,’ she said.

‘It’s important to look at all aspects of their behaviour.’

A remorseful Michael Clarke has taken full responsibility for what happened.

‘I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,’ he told the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday night.

‘I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.’

Meanwhile, Pip Edwards has taken a savage swipe at her ex-boyfriend Michael Clarke.

She was having none of the drama when she returned to her Bondi home late Wednesday evening after attending Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park.

‘This is not my circus. Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

Michael’s relationship with his former partner Pip Edwards began in June 2020, following his split from wife Kyly, which they had announced four months earlier.

He and Pip had been friends for more than a decade before that, but grew close while working on a fashion project together.

The couple called it quits in December 2021.

A source close to the pair confirmed the split, saying: ‘The decision was mutual. They’re two best friends who decided to part ways as a couple earlier this month, but continue their friendship.’

After their break-up, Pip had a fling with Bondi restaurateur Cameron Northway for about four months, but that fizzled out and she got back with Michael.

Michael and Pip had recently attended an exclusive A-list New Year’s Day bash at Sydney’s iconic Icebergs.

The former Australian Test cricket captain was married to ex-model Kyly Clarke (née Boldy), 40, from 2012 until 2019, but the couple didn’t announce their separation until February 2020.

The Clarkes had kept their separation quiet for several months before she put out a statement on Instagram saying their priority was their daughter.

In a statement at the time, the pair said the ‘amicable’ decision to separate was ‘the best course’ for their daughter.
