The Block star Sarah-Jane has undergone major surgery just weeks after the show’s finale.
The 30-year-old mother-of-one had a double mastectomy after discovering she’s a BRCA1 gene carrier and has a much higher risk of developing breast cancer.
She said she learnt the life-saving surgery had been approved just one day prior to the November 5 auctions.

In a brave Instagram post, Sarah-Jane said the surgery was preventive after she She said her own mother first developed breast cancer at 36 years of age.
‘It’s been a long time in the making – I’ve been on this list for five-plus years. Then, the day before The Block auction, they called me: “We’ve got a spot for you,”‘ she said.
Over on her personal Instagram page, she candidly opened up about her surgery while wearing post-surgery medical garments, which included a compression bra with two bags under her arms to drain fluid from her breasts.
‘It is day five since my double mastectomy – I’ve got my compression bra on, which they ask you to wear afterwards,’ she explained.
I’ve had all my breast tissue removed, then I had implants put in straight away.’
‘I’ve got some bruising, but all is going pretty well to be honest. And I do have nipples, for people asking!’ she added. ‘They were able to save my nipples; not everybody’s nipples are salvageable.’
