Rare has detailed what to expect from Sea of Thieves‘ September content update. Vaults of the Ancients drops on September 9th and brings with it a new voyage for the Gold Hoarders, dogs, mysterious notes and some quality of life improvements.
During Gamescom last week, Rare announced that dogs of various breeds are coming to Sea of Thieves as pets. These good boys and girls will soon be able to accompany you on your journeys across the high seas when the Vaults of the Ancients update rolls out.
Coming alongside man’s best friend is a new permanent voyage for the Gold Hoarders. The voyage has you tracking down keys for ancient treasure vaults stuffed full of gold. Once the key has been found, it can be returned to the Gold Hoarders, or you can use it yourself. Inside the vault, you’ll need to find several medallions before a timer runs out to unlock a hidden vault filled with even more treasure.
In terms of quality of life updates, you’ll soon have the option to change the size of banners that appear when approaching islands. These banners can even be turned off completely to make for a less intrusive gameplay experience. Health and ammo bars can also be displayed permanently if that’s more your thing. Another big quality of life update is one that should keep you abreast of all the changes happening in Sea of Thieves. Players will start receiving mysterious notes in their quest radial that can detail things like new world events, voyages or a new arrival at the outpost.
Rare hasn’t mentioned anything about new achievements for this content update, but it’s highly likely Vaults of the Ancients will follow in the footsteps of previous updates and add a few more to unlock.
