A seven-year-old who dressed as Nicola Sturgeon for Halloween delighted Good Morning Britain viewers with his impression of the First Minister.

Jacob Ferguson and his older brother Lucas, from Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire, appeared on the show alongside their mother Alyson Welsh.

The pair entertained viewers with their ‘brilliant’ impressions of Sturgeon and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, after a video of Jacob acting out a daily briefing in Scotland went viral last week.

Hosts Piers Morgan and Susannah Reid were left in stitches after Jacob wagged his finger while impersonating the First Minister, saying: You were told, stay in the house, no parties, save lives!’

Alyson explained that after sharing the viral clip, Sturgeon herself privately messaged her to ensure that the family were keeping well during the pandemic.

Host Piers said: You have a very talented son, to which Alyson replied: ‘I do, and he knows it!’

‘I thought she was lovely that she took the time to see if we were doing okay.’

Dressed in a red dress with a poppy brooch, Jacob begins: ‘You were told, stay in the house, no parties, save lives.’

He exits the stage after exclaiming: ‘My feet are killing me, where’s my clicky pen, Frank, get the door; I want a haggis supper, and make sure it’s deep fried.’

The video even caught the attention of the First Minister herself, who shared the clip, hailing Jacob a ‘wee star’.

She penned: ‘Thank you @welsh_alyson – this has made me smile and given me a much needed laugh this morning.

‘What a wee star – I think we might draft him in for the daily briefings!’
