Shakira goes for the gold in sexy metallic dress as she prepares to receive Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at 2023 MTV Video Music Awards
She will be receiving one of the night’s highest honor – the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
And Shakira was a vision in gold as she arrived to the MTV Video Music Awards at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Thursday.
The Whenever, Wherever songstress, 46, displayed her curves in a slinky metallic gown with a sexy thigh-high slit and cut-outs along the waist.
Shakira looked radiant striking poses on the pink carpet with her long chestnut hair styled into loose ringlets that cascaded past her chest.
She rocked dramatic mascara, a dusting of pink blush, and a rosy swipe of lip tint.
Ramping up the glam, she rocked an array of rings and elevated her petite frame with a pair of strappy peep toe heels.
The music icon was also joined by the two sons she shares with her ex Gerard Pique, Sasha, seven, and Milan, nine.
Shakira was announced as the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award last month.
The music icon will also perform at the show and is up for four Moon Person trophies: Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration for TQG with Karol G as well as Best Latin song for both TQG and Acróstico.
‘Shakira is a true global force who continues to inspire and influence the masses with her unique, musical prowess,’ Bruce Gilmer, Paramount’s present of music said in a press release last month.
‘She’s a trailblazer for women around the world and one of the first artists to lead the globalization of Latin music,’ he continued.
‘Her massive impact across the musical landscape will be long lasting as she continues to create and entertain at the highest level,’ he concluded.
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) is being held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey .
The show is hosted by rap royalty Nicki Minaj, marking her second consecutive year in the role. It is the first time the ceremony has been held on a Tuesday.

This year, the entire list of Artist of the Year contenders is comprised solely of female artists for the first time ever with megastar Taylor Swift leading the pack with the most nominations.
Taylor already holds the record for most wins ever with three for Bad Blood (2015), You Need To Calm Down (2019), and All Too Well: The Short Film (2022) so she would extend the record to four.
A staggering 35 artists are nominated for the first time this year, with Kim Petras making the shortlist for five prizes.
The nods all come from her Sam Smith collaboration Unholy, in the Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Choreography categories.
In addition, newcomers Metro Boomin and Rema are up for three awards each, while Ayra Starr, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Peso Pluma, Renee Rapp and Yung Miami are all in the running for two accolades.
As well as Kim, established stars Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith are all up for five prizes, while BLACKPINK, Shakira and Diddy have the chance to take up to four trophies home with them.
