Shark Tank Australia judge Jane Lu throws $40,000 viewing party for premiere at Crown Sydney – and wakes up to disastrous ratings
Shark Tank Australia judge Jane Lu rented out a $40,000 a night Presidential Suite at Crown Sydney on Tuesday to host a viewing party for the series premiere.
The entrepreneur, 36, shared a video to Instagram capturing her giving followers a tour of the palatial suite which has an office, karaoke room and spa.
‘Where else do you go to watch the first episode of Shark Tank Australia than the most expensive hotel suite in Australia?’ she asked her fans.
‘I’m out of breath, there’s a pond and a hot tub!’
Jane looks to be having the time of her life as she shows fans around the luxury suite which also has a grand piano and a breathtaking view of the Sydney skyline.
Many of Lu’s friends were quick to gush over the amazing viewing party she arranged for her friends.
‘Love this, it’s incredible,’ one fan gushed, while another added: ‘Wow, this is fancy’.
Lu is the founder and CEO of the Australian online women’s fashion retailer Showpo, which turns an annual profit of over $30million.
The reality television show, which sees entrepreneurs from across the country pitch their inventions to a panel of investors, yielded dismal viewership numbers.
Falling behind The Voice, the show pulled just 322,000 viewers, including 237,000 in the capital cities.
The reboot premiere was down 54 per cent nationally (53 per cent in capital cities) on the 2018 series launch episode which aired during an 8.30pm time slot.
Suffering the lowest viewership ratings of any Shark Tank episode ever, the network’s reboot is the third worst general entertainment show launch ever.
Meanwhile, the latter opened to a metro audience of just 215,000 before drastically dropping off in following episodes.
