Shootout at Alabama nightclub leaves ‘two women dead’

  • Two women were pronounced dead following a shootout at an Alabama nightclub over the Labor Day holiday weekend 
  • Friends of the victims brought them to a nearby hospital only to find themselves the victim of more gunfire after the suspect’s followed them 
  • There have been no arrests made and the suspects are still-at-large 

Two women have been killed and several others wounded during an early morning shooting that began at an Alabama nightclub and continued as victims were being transported to a local hospital. 

Witnesses said that before 2:30 am on Monday a Chevrolet Tahoe pulled up outside of the University of Alabama Birmingham hospital, those inside were seeking treatment for victims of the first shooting. 

As they pleaded for help, a car pulled up behind the SUV and began opening fire. That gunfire broke a hospital room window and hit a nearby police car, reports 

All of those who were wounded where shot at the nightclub. According to the report, in addition to the two that were killed, three others were injured. 

Police have confirmed that the shooting is being investigated as a double homicide. There have been no arrests and the suspects remain at large. The university hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Alabama.

The original shooting occurred at Aria Restaurant & Lounge, just a five minute drive from the hospital. 

According to the club’s Instagram page, the venue was hosting an event named Labor Day Rehab Sunday at the time of the attack. 

A witness described the gunshots as being like ‘iron pipes hitting’ in an interview with 

The two women are the 90th and 91st people to have been the victim of a homicide in Birmingham so far in 2023.
