The very mention of a body oil can conjure up images of sensual evenings spent with a partner, smoothing silky emulsions over one another and enjoying those sensations that only the pleasures of human touch can deliver.
And sometimes, the mere suggestion of what’s to come can be more alluring than anything else. With a bottle of Graydon Intimacy Oil, the options are limitless. Give each other a sensual massage. Or, if you’re solo, smooth it over your own skin.
A dreamy oil that feels wonderfully silky to the touch, this light essence was formulated with the intention of helping users feel better connected with their own bodies.
With its lightly sweet aroma and beautiful texture, the oil is a winner on all counts. It’s loaded with nourishing ingredients that smooth on contact.
It can also be used as a massage oil, making it an important part of more intimate moments with your partner. And it’s equally potent as a moisturizer, cuticle softener, and even to smooth hair!
Unlike other ‘intimacy’-branded oils, this isn’t a personal lubricant in the conventional sense. It’s for external use only, and it should not be used with latex. Instead, it’s an oil that feels simply feels good to the touch — and that’s formulated to help you feel better connected to your body.
In fact, that was precisely why founder Graydon Moffat developed Intimacy Oil in the first place. Coping with an eating disorder, she struggled to make peace with her body. It was difficult, she says, even to apply body lotion.
Graydon Intimacy Oil is packaged in a convenient spray bottle, so you can spritz it right on, massage into your skin, and go (or stay in, depending on what you have in mind).
It was this that spurred her to create Intimacy Oil — something that feels as good as it looks, and that’s so much more than a standard lubricant. Her goal was to create ‘a more positive relationship‘ with herself and her own skin.
That could well be the true definition of intimacy at its core. Discovering what makes you feel good, finding ways to care for yourself on a deeper level, and honoring your spirit are all signs of an intimate connection with your own mind, body, and soul.
Of course, a body oil can be downright fun, too. It’s great for massages, so you could conceivably add it to your repertoire if you wanted to spice things up in the bedroom. Massages can be gently teasing or wildly erotic, and the right oil complements whatever you prefer.

Putting it to the test
It was my (literal) pleasure to put this lovely oil to the test. Beautifully packed in a sleek bottle, the soft minty-blue oil’s color alone was incredibly appealing.
Aesthetics aside, the beauty of the Graydon Intimacy Oil was obvious the moment I felt it. It’s light and silky, with a consistency almost like a lightweight serum.
The company states that it’s designed for use on either wet or dry skin, and can be applied all over to relax the body and unwind. It also pulls double (and triple and quadruple…) duty as an oil for the hair and to moisturize dry cuticles.
Applying the product was a dream. A little bit goes a long way, and I didn’t feel like I needed to use more to achieve a deeper moisturizing effect.
I’ve found that the best way to really reap the benefits of any hydrating product is to apply it to slightly damp skin, so after lightly patting my skin dry post-shower, I gently massaged the oil into my skin in circular motions.
The Graydon Intimacy Oil feels light and airy to the touch, with a serum-like consistency that instantly hydrates dry skin.
My skin felt soft right away, without any of the greasy residue that’s so typical of most body oils. There was no stickiness — I definitely didn’t feel like I needed to jump in the shower again. I could throw on my comfy loungewear immediately after, and there was nothing uncomfortably tacky left behind.
What I immediately loved, besides the texture, was the way that my skin felt so quickly hydrated. The oil is loaded with a whole cocktail of skin-loving ingredients, like moisturizing squalane oil, omega-packed hemp seed oil, soothing milk thistle, and calming blue tansy.
While I couldn’t necessarily say which one had the best effect on my skin, I know virtually all of the ingredients are incredibly gentle. That’s a big deal for anyone with sensitive skin, and even then it takes some trial and error to be totally confident that a product is suitable.
To that end, I used the oil for a couple of weeks, growing increasingly more satisfied with the results and the fact that it didn’t once irritate my skin. Plus, the natural scent is absolutely divine, and just what I imagine is perfect for a spa session at home.
It’s lightly sweet, with a faint floral undertone. It’s even a little bit earthy. And though I have a rather sensitive olfactory system, this fragrance didn’t trigger it in the least.
The bottom line
So is it worth it to invest in Graydon Intimacy Oil when there are other body oils on the market that are also moisturizing? Yes, for a number of reasons.
There’s the fact that it introduces an entire portfolio of deeply hydrating and nurturing ingredients to your skin — none of which can be found blended together in existing body oils.
Graydon Intimacy Oil isn’t a personal lubricant, but a feel-good, love-yourself, honor-your-body essence that helps you feel better and better with every use.
The aroma is another huge selling point. It’s distinctive for the way the essential oils come together in perfect harmony, yielding a fragrance that’s just right — like it’s merely kissed the skin with lightness instead of overpowering it with a vengeance.
It smells natural and pretty, kind of like you’re running through a botanical garden on a sunny day. It’s the essence of what ‘whimsical’ might smell like.
I also appreciate the company’s transparency in sharing the oil’s ingredients. Anything can be a key factor in determining whether or not I can safely use a product. And because my skin never became irritated with regular use, I knew I had a good option on my hands.
