KENT COUNTY, MI — Police found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in a ditch along US-131 early Sunday morning.

State troopers saw a vehicle pulled over on the shoulder around 4:30 a.m. in the area of US-131 and 100th Street in Kent County’s Byron Township, according to police.

When troopers got out to investigate, they found an injured man in a ditch near his vehicle. Police believe he was fleeing an earlier altercation possibly, at the Fish Ladder Park in Grand Rapids.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Metro Hospital in Byron Center, where he remained in critical condition, according to police.
