Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac hits back at viewer who accused the breakfast star of doing ‘very little’
Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac has launched a scathing come-back after copping a sledge from a viewer.
The funnyman was responding to a letter published in Adelaide‘s Sunday Mail that suggested Sam was getting paid by Channel Seven’s breakfast show to do very little.
The letter signed by Neill from Woodcroft said Sam was accepting free meals, accommodation and presumably air fares and he asked how Sam filled his days after doing the weather.
Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac has launched a scathing come-back on his Instagram Monday after copping a sledge from a viewer who asked what the funnyman ‘did all day?’
Sam shot back a lengthy and sarcastic reply in an Instagram story.
‘Firstly, I must commend you on your accurate summary of my role as a Weatherman, i.e. telling people the weather. Well spotted Sir. You got me,’ the notoriously quick-witted 40-year-old shared.
‘Now, in answer to your question, when I’m not basking in the glory of free accommodation, meals & airfares, I like to spend the rest of the day partaking in my favourite hobbies…,’ Sam said.
Sam then listed a highly unlikely set of past-times including stone skipping, Latin dancing, collecting navel fluff, beat boxing, and learning national anthems on the flute.
The letter signed by Neill from Woodcroft said Sam was accepting free meals, accomodation and presumably air fares and he asked how Sam filled his days after doing the weather?
‘If there’s anytime left over, I like to write snide letters to my local newspapers. How about you Neill? What do YOU do for the rest of the day? Sincerely, Sam.’
Meanwhile, Sam’s Sunrise colleagues could not resist a dig at the weatherman.
‘Neill is very perceptive. We get you, Neill,’ Sunrise host David Koch told viewers on Tuesday.

Co-host Natalie Barr, joined in the playful jibe at Sam, saying: ‘Neill is all of us.’
Sam then suggested maybe David Koch had written the letter. ‘Is your pen name Neill,’ he teased.
The letter, published on Sunday, was headlined ‘Not a cloud in the sky’.

‘I had to smile when Sunrise’s Sam Mac recently said he had fantastic week,’ Neill’s letter began.
‘Well of course he would say that after being in the Hunter Valley all week. But what does he actually do? It seems to me very little, except for giving the weather temperatures and telling viewers it it’s going to be rainy or sunny.
‘Not a bad job: getting paid while enjoying free accommodation, meals, and I presume, airfares. I’d like to know what he does for the rest of the day.’
