The Bachelors 2023: contestants are slammed for their tacky outfits

The Bachelors contestants are slammed for their tacky outfits as the women’s gowns are compared to ‘Year 12 formal’ dresses

The Bachelors has kicked off to a lukewarm start despite boasting three dashing leading men.

Now the costume department has come under fire with viewers criticising the contestants’ dresses as tacky and outdated.

Influencer DutchMinty posted a photo on Instagram of the girls lined up in various gaudy gowns and compared them to ‘Year 12 formal’ dresses.

With the ladies wearing a variety of mismatched colours and ill-fitting ensembles, DutchMinty asked: ‘Bachelor(s) 2023… What in the 2013 Year 12 formal is this?’

Meanwhile, fans of the Channel 10 show flocked to Twitter to share their own thoughts on the wardrobe selection.

One viewer created a thread slamming the women’s outfits, particularly one who had half a breast peeking out beneath an oddly crossed neckline.

‘I hope twentysomethings look back on their 2022 fashion choices in 10 years with the same level of bewilderment and revulsion that all of us elder millennials do about the 2000s,’ they wrote.

The Twitter user then shared a photo of the girls in another line-up, alongside the caption: ‘Every single dress here is a crime. This is like a fashion police line-up.’

Leading man Jed McIntosh became a target as well when the viewer posted an image of him dressed in black leather and lace, calling him the ‘Aldi Billy Idol’.

Others agreed, with one writing: ‘No self-respecting op shop would stock one of those outfits.’

Another said: ‘Awful dresses and some don’t look comfortable in them either, like a bad ’90s collection.’

Not even the matchmaking show’s engagement rings escaped criticism, with fans mocking the ‘atrocious’ jewellery in Monday’s premiere.

During the episode, host Osher Günsberg presented suitors Felix Von Hofe, Jed McIntosh, and Thomas Malucelli with engagement rings should they find Ms Right and want to propose at the end of the series.

However, viewers found themselves less than impressed with the sparklers, flocking to social media in their droves to let their feelings be known.

‘Those rings are atrocious,’ one viewer wrote, with plenty more joining the chorus.
