The Bachelors 2023: Ex-stars hit out at Tash Candyce over shock return

Bachelor franchise stars take brutal swipes at ‘villain’ Tash Candyce as she returns to the show just two days after quitting

The Bachelors star Tash Candyce is facing criticism for returning to the Channel 10 show on Wednesday’s episode just two days after quitting.

Florence Moerenhout and Jake Ellis, who previously starred on Bachelor in Paradise, led the backlash in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle.

The former believes the 31-year-old only came back for airtime, and not to win the heart of suitor Jed McIntosh, like she told producers.

Doubting Jed would be the love of Tash’s life, Florence speculated it was the producers who urged her to come back to the mansion.

She recounted how she’d been asked to make a return during her time on The Bachelor, so guessed the same thing happened this year with Tash.

Jake then revealed he got to know the reality TV ‘villain’ some years ago.

He met her a few times during her former engagement to Michael Turnbull, who also starred on Bachelor in Paradise and the first season of The Bachelorette.

‘What you’re seeing on television is one hundred per cent what she’s like,’ he said.

Jake said she’d wanted to be on a reality television show for five years, so had read up on the best ways to maximise screen time.

‘I think she’s just read the “how to be the villain” handbook, and she’s just playing it to a tee so she’s getting a lot of airtime,’ he said.

Despite his scepticism of her motives, Jake revealed he was looking forward to seeing Tash’s future antics.

According to Tash, she came back to The Bachelors because she realised how much she missed Jed as soon as she got home.

‘I want to surprise him… I want Jed back, and when I want something I get it,’ she said.

It remains to be seen if their reunion ends well, with the action set to continue on Sunday night’s episode.

Despite a major shake-up and intriguing storylines, The Bachelors has struggled in the ratings this year, and is the latest in a string of flops for Channel 10.
