Add the show’s $100,000 prize money, and Jimmy and Tam earned themselves $1,066,000, the largest cash prize in Australian television history.

Even Scott Cam was surprised by the result, with him clearly happy for the couple.

‘Come here, mate. Bloody hell, $966,000. Just Unbelievable, he said following the couple’s auction.

‘Mummy and daddy just won a lot of money,’ Tam told their daughter shortly after. While Jimmy said: ‘You want a pony?’

The strong result followed Luke and Jasmin, who sold their home for a whopping $3,856,000. The Perth couple made a whopping $506,000 in profit.

During the finale, they were the first pair to put their house under the hammer.

They set their sights on making $440,000 to pay off their mortgage, and far exceeded their dreams.

Showing a sign of the times, The Block zoomed the auctions.

The season finale was not without drama, with Jimmy and Tam choosing the auction order before the homes went under the hammer.

The auction order had Luke and Jasmin leading the charge, followed by Jimmy and Tam then Sarah and George.

Daniel and Jade were the fourth couple to go under the hammer, with father-daughter duo Harry and Tash in fifth place.

The contestants broke down in tears over the auction order, with Harry and Tash clearly upset they were going last.

Despite the great results of both auctions, the teams were warned about the effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

Domain managing editor Alice Stolz, gave the couples both good and bad news, confessing the Melbourne market had been in a ‘slumber’.

She did admit, however, that the clearance rate for properties was still reasonable: ‘The clearance rate is in the high 60s early 70s,’ she said.

Another great result! Scott Cam congratulated the couples on such stellar results
